Can you play the old Playstation 2 game Red Dead Revolver on a PS3?

or do I need to keep my old PS2.

It depends on your model of PS3.

Some are not backward compatible with PS2 games.

If you mean the disc? Then you need the original 60GB or 20GB PS3 console to play it.
But you can buy ps2 games, Red Dead Revolver included off the playstation network and install it on the hard drive and play it on any PS3.
