Spaghetti western The Mercenary seems to have been a huge influence

Just watched The Mercenary (1968). So many times it reminded me of the rebeldes storyline in Red Dead Redemption. Has anyone else watched this scene? Damn the Rebeldes storyline is like a remake of this film at some parts.

The leader of the revolution in The Mercenary, actually reminds me a lot of the revolutionary leader in RDR for one thing. Actually looks loads like him, to the extent that I suspect the character in the game might have been based on Tony Musante's character in the film.

There's a point in the film when the revolutionary leader says to the white man something along the lines of "We could use a man like you to help us in he revolution" and mentions his "brains" in reference to the white man's intelligence. Familiar?

Remember the wagon loaded with dynamite which John Marston jumped off before it hit the fort gate and exploded? In this film, Franco Nero and Tony Musante (John and revolutionary leaders counterparts so to speak) jump off a dynamite loaded jeep before it runs into soldiers and their equipment and blows up. Very similar.

Remember the rock arch at Rio deal Lobo? Very distinctive looking rock feature, well it can be seen in The Mercenary, in the scene in which (no death spoiler in case you're thinking about looking, not a huge spoiler) Jack Palace is stripped of his clothing and told to disappear

I found it really cool. Not complaining at all, as I'm aware that the game, rightly so, took influence from a lot of western films. It's fun watching a lot of westerns right now when I spot things from RDR.
