So many idiotic threads based off of a SPOOF movie

- No the gang in this film is NOT representative of British gangs. This lot are very mild by comparison.

- Yes, there are street gangs in London but no they are not like the ones in the US. Mostly it's a postcode "war" and innocent kids can quite often get caught up in it because a lot of bullying is used, including online bullying. Kids are carrying knives and looking for trouble.

- HOWEVER, it is not pervasive, despite what you might read in the right wing media. The gangs in London are mostly confined to 8 main areas (which the police are aware of) and their activities are mostly around petty crime.

- Most kids in the UK, including mist black kids, are law-abiding and not involved in gang activity at all. But if you read the right wing press you'd be forgiven for thinking every British kid was a binge-boozing, knife-wielding thug.

- Glasgow has a bigger knife crime problem than London (just Google 'Glasgow' and 'knife crime' and you'll see the stats).

- London isn't a dangerous city. There are less murders here than in Amsterdam or Paris. Houston and Dallas in Texas have more murders per years than the entire UK.

- ATTACK THE BLOCK is a spoof movie. It may have some real social messages contained within but it us not a reflection of real life in a London. Quite why people on this board think it is, I don't know. It's a sodding film, and a comedy one at that.
