Attack the Block - 90% on Rotten Tomatoes

This has got to be the most overrated movie I have ever seen.

I agree. It's not funny, the action is mediocre, the horror aspect is non existent, it's got nothing really going for it. I think there is a partial bias because it's foreign. If this was a Hollywood flick it would be hated on.

I think because when Hollywood makes these kind of movies they turn into gross out movies like The Watch, or saccharine fests like Earth To Echo. Aliens invading Hollywood is done to death. All good if that's what you want. As for it being "foreign", it's set in London? In (albeit slang) English? I know I'm British but Hollywood doesn't really class British movies as foreign, does it? This is as foreign to me as watching small-town Signs (which was, apparently, a movie that inspired the director). Sure it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I guess the critics can see what the people involved in this movie were trying to do, and that they did it fairly well.

90% seems high for the critics rating, but the public still gives it 74%, pretty high.

It starts out like it's going to be garbage, then it turns into a more than decent movie.

reply

90% isn't really the rating but the percentage of critics who liked it.

reply

Agreed, it sucked, I usually love this type of thing but it was awful, the aliens, the characters, the action, everything about it sucked. I can not understand how it got a 90% and it's main character is now a Jedi.
