enjoyed it but some criticism

Once again Christians are portrayed negatively. This is almost de rigueur for Hollywood films nowadays. They are shown as hypocrites, freaks, dishonest, adulterers and money obsessed jerks.

I know it's hard for the liberal writers to believe, but there are really are normal people who are Christians and are not ruled by carnal lust. In our hypersexualized society the popular culture either mocks and ridicules Christians who practice a Biblical standard of sexual morality or portrays them as all hypocrites who are just as debased as everyone else. People can resist sexual temptation it is not impossible! What a shocking idea.

When our character is having a rough time he gets drunk, does multiple narcotics, commits adultery and then falls in love with a prostitute. Um ok.

I'm also sick of how it seems so many adults cannot socialize without alcohol. Every time a Hollywood movie wants to show people having a "good time" it almost always involves them getting drunk.

In other words, they're often portrayed portrayed as human. Shocking. Look, you guys run the F-ing country, and you still complain. We've even got a member of the former slave class running this place, yet when's the last time there's been an openly non-Christian president? Face it, you've won. Thoroughly. So be happy and quit your endless, tiresome whining. God, you Christians like to whine when you don't like something.

You know one of the things I really liked about this movie? The protagonists in this film cared about each other, as it they were family. Even the adultress (bet you want to stone her, eh?) was a caring human being. I was impressed that the film permitted that.

When did christianity turn from a religion about being kind to people into one of complaining and nastiness? About Texas's new abortion law:

"...The law, which goes into effect Sept. 1, requires a doctor to
describe the fetus’ features and allow women to hear the fetal
heartbeat. Exemptions are allowed only cases of rape or incest..."

That's pure sadism, as sure as a priest anally raping a young parishioner. And exceptions for rape or incest? That's an admission that abortion isn't about taking human life, but about Christians not liking when other people have sex in ways they don't approve of.

For me abortion is murder. I am against all forms of abortion. Why punish an innocent child? There are lots of couples who want to adopt. And the adoption industry is a huge scam, it should not cost hundreds of thousands of dollars to adopt a baby.

Abortions don't matter. According to the christian faith babies go to heaven anyway. And I do happen to believe that it is the woman's choice, seeing as how the damn thing is growing inside of their own bodies.

Fans are clingy complaining *beep* who will never ever be grateful for any concession you make.

Okay, if you think abortion is murder, don't have an abortion. But, don't tell other people not to have them. First, there isn't a strong consensus in the United States on whether abortion is murder. Second, I think we can all pretty much agree that when sperm is about to penetrate egg there's no person in existence yet, and after birth there is, but in-between? Simply put, no human can make an authoritative statement or opinion (personally I think the way to go is to declare it partially human, the fraction of humanity determined by time after conception, but most people like such things to be nice, neat, and binary: 0% alive or 100%). As to what your God has to say about it, I don't care. Our laws shouldn't be based on the opinions of imaginary beings.[/quote]
Why punish an innocent child?

Why punish a young girl by forcing her to go through all the sadistic crap Texas wants her to? I've known multiple women who've had abortions, and believe me, not one of them didn't feel horrible guilt about it.

BTW, How many hundreds of thousands do I have to pay these days to adopt a black baby with no arms and no legs? Just curious.

I enjoyed the movie as a whole, but agree that Christians are often made out to be fools in these comedies, such as in Easy A, Saved, and probably too many to mention... However, Ed Helms character was likable, so it didn't offend me as much as some of these movies have in the past.

Hey guys, some thoughts arose while reading these posts: You listed like 3 movies out of how many dozens of THOUSANDS that have out in the last approximately seven years (which is around when Saved came out). Also Christianity is the biggest religion in the US, logically it would be mentioned more than any other, either positively or negatively.

And to the OP: lots of groups are made fun of regularly (Jewish people, fat people, black people, women, etc...), do you make a new thread every time one of them is made fun of? Or is it only when it applies to YOU that it's not OK?

Comedy is an all or nothing game... can't pick and choose what's alright to make fun of and what isn't based solely on who you are...

I hear you, brother. Hollywood is just so petty that way. They're just elitists who think that everyone shares their tastes. For example, when was the last time you heard someone in a movie say that their favorite color was mauve? It's always blue or red or, for hipsters, black. It's never mauve. Why not? My favorite color is mauve, and I'm not the only one whose favorite color is mauve.

See, there's just so much mauve bigotry these days. Why the other night I was at an orgy with some friends and over a few hits of crack the subject of favorite colors came up, as it will. And I'm not shy, I just said it straight, "I love mauve." And my friends laughed. "Nobody's favorite color is mauve." "Well mine is," I said. And they laughed at me so hard that I had to whip out a chrome-plated pipe wrench and beat them all to death.

It's just like that. If they had been a little more open minded about mauve, they'd be alive today.
