I'm 38 minutes into this movie. Is there ANY reason to keep watching?

The initial setup was OK, with the characters being introduced. Granted it so far looks to be nothing more than your typical Hollywood assault on how they think all midwesterners are stupid, which is bigoted and lame, but at least the acting and pacing were good, and there were a couple laughs.

But the scavenger hunt ground all that to a halt, and then I was forced to watch Ed Helms and Anne Heche have an awkward, dumb conversation over dinner. I can already see the writing on the wall. I have paused by DVR.

Does it get any better, or does the suck intensify from this point on?

i think its a mad funny movie. keep watching. John C Reilly gets especially funny in the 2nd half

In 2005 he began. In 2008 he fell. In 2012
The Dark Knight Rises

I got to the exact same spot as you. I can't take it anymore. Horrible, unfunny, waste of my time.

it gets a bit better after that.

I'm RIGHT AT THAT CONVO. Asking myself the same question. ha ha. Although I thought this was a horror film so far, not a comedy.

The movie may be difficult to sit through, but it definitely redeems itself at the end. I don't want to ruin anything for you. It's more than just a "happy" ending, it's a "whole world-turned upside-down" ending without being too implausible. It's not terribly funny, but well worth your time.
