I quite enjoyed Man of Steel and thought critics (and some fans) were not fair in their reviews. It was the most enjoyable Superman movie I've seen since the original from 1978. I think taking a different approach to this classic super hero was fine. It was in Batman V Superman where it all went off the rails. I blame that on poor story telling, shoddy producing and on WB not understanding these characters and their appeal to people.

I'm a Marvel guy. I make no secret of my preference but I don't hate DC. Spider-man was always my favorite but Batman was a close second. You can go back and look at other posts I've made on this topic. Not a DC hater here, just a CBM lover who expects better. Everyone's taste is different though, I get it. Just seems to me that bleak, dark, stormy and oppressive isn't the tone that they should have gone with for a movie featuring the two biggest bullets in the DC arsenal.

Justice League only became a reality after The Avengers struck gold....WB tried to fast track a JL movie, it resulted in disaster, so WB literally hired The director of The Avengers to come in a try do it for them...

Aquaman and Shazam look like exact copies of MCU films, The dark,depressing and colorless tones of Snyder's DCEU is gone, replaced with The MCU humor, and lighthearted tones...

you do not have to like The MCU films.....but at this point you can no longer claim DC films are more adult....

that was an option from 2008 until 2016....from that point, WB/DC was making CBM's with clearly different tones....The 2 Dark Knight films, MOS, BvS and SS were made with completely different tones than The MCU films...

you are more than with your right to claim you believe they are more adult or are better than The MCU films....



but starting immediately after with BvS, after Audiences and critics universally hated BvS, WB began interfering in every DCEU films post production in an attempt to lighten the tones and add HUMOR...

at this point there is no more claiming "MCU is Kiddie and DC is adult"

WB/DC has FULL ON copied Marvel Studios and Copied to A Shameless Level that they are literally hiring The exact directors they tried to copy to now come in a fix their COPIED franchises...

Aquaman is Succeeding righting because WB COPIED Marvel Studios tones...

The film started out tracking at a disastrously low 35 Million ....thats undeniable proof interest WAS DIED after Justice League......ONLY this final month during WBs Massive final marketing campaign has Tracking gone up because audiences are now seeing The film looks nothing like the awful DCEU films and looks exactly like an MCU film...

in conclusion

I get it, You are still deeply angry at the decade on Success of 20 Marvel Studios films and The complete and utter failure and DEATH of the DCEU after only 5 films ..

You'll always be looking for ways to claim "DC is better" because DC is and has been losing so horrifically to Marvel Studios...

but unfortunately, your just going to have to find a New way because claiming "DC is more adult" and "MCU is for Kiddies" is no longer and option now that WB/DC has FULL ON Copied Marvel Studios in the most Shameless of ways....

Well even if it stays in the upper 70's or low 80's percentile range on RT, it's still a great improvement from the DCEU and currently on par with movies like Ant-Man, The Incredible Hulk, both Thor movies, Iron Man 2 and Captain America: First Avenger.

See, I disagree with you ONLY on that last statement. Aquaman is a golden age comics character. In some respects, he's not overly interesting but the key is to tell his story and make him interesting.

How many of you would have ever thought that Ant-Man would be a big hit? I thought he'd be okay but even I was delightfully surprised at the way they introduced him and told his story.

That's the key - GOOD STORY TELLING.

If you have a good story, everything else can fall into place. That's what Snyder's big problem was, he was all visuals with virtually zero story or haphazard story telling at best.

Well said, I couldn't stand Snyder's DCEU, so dull and tedious.

If Aquaman of all things is a success that the DCEU desperately needs (and please let it be), every REAL DC fan should just admit Snyder was the problem. Wonder Woman was great....no Snyder. Everything Snyder has a direct hand in (aside from producing) has been the stink on this pig. And if....Aquaman is a true hit (and more importantly, a decent movie), everyone involved in the MoS/BvS/Suicide Squad/Justice League debacles should just be fired.

When your universe depends on Aquaman, things are dire.

Snyder goes from The Boss of the DCEU to being immediately DEMOTED after BvS

He then has An entire Justice League film taken away by WB, JL was announced ,greenlit and had release dates to be a 2 parter, but coincidentally became just 1 film right after Shit the bed with BvS. Its clear WB forced snyder to make JL into 1 film because they no longer had faith in him

There are confirmed reports, that WB wanted and tried to fire Snyder after BvS, but realized they couldnt because JL was too far into pre production and it would cost them over 100 M

This resulted in WB having a "come to Jesus" talk with Snyder before starting JL where Snyder promised to make tone changes and fix the things people hated about BvS.

hilariously WB then sent Johns to shadow Snyder and oversee the entire production on JL, literally looking over his shoulder at all times with Snyder answering to JOhns...

Snyder then delivers a first cut of Justice League that is so horrifically awful WB deems it "Unwatchable"...Snyder once again made the exact same movie, dark, depressing and colorless, no joy, all Action sequences take place at night, Superman is Evil, Cyborgs ark is doom and gloom...

WB then makes the decision Snyder has to go, and Literally fires him....

Snyder has spent the last year posting short and cryptic messages about what his JL movies WOULD HAVE BEEN...

Snyder was DEFINITELY the biggest problem in the DCEU. Plus whatever producers rushed Suicide Squad and then had it re-cut by the company that made the trailer

Snyder is just not a very good director. He does much better with R rated material, but he got greedy and tried to be a Michael Bay/James Cameron type of guy. And Christopher Nolan, who is otherwise a cinema saint in my eyes, deserves some blame for recruiting Snyder

People love to talk about how good Snyder's movies look, but that's not enough to be a movie director in charge of such massive projects.

You know, there's more reviews being added and it's remaining a solid 76% regardless of your panic about its metacritic score. The movie is good. Let the DC fans enjoy themselves. They got a good Aquaman out of this debacle of a franchise.

This is looking like it will be another Man of Steel. Where it is not considered the worst thing ever but definitely loaded full of issues.

You didn't like it? Hmmm.... thus far I've heard mixed views, although most have been positive.

And I agree completely about Snyder. He had zero reverence for the DC source material. He just made movies that he wanted to make, fans be damned!
