a question - spoiler warnings

If you haven't seen episode 1 of season 3, don't read on. It's not a big spoiler, but, well, there it is.

*****

I just saw that episode. At the end, Molly comes in with her fiance Tom. Sherlock gives him a weird look. A moment later, John says 'did you say something?' Sherlock: 'no.' John: 'probably for the best.'

What did I miss? Why the weird look, and what is there to say, and why better not said? I didn't recognize Tom from before, but then, I'm not too observant.

Or is it NOT something I missed, but something that'll be explained in the future?

Thanks for any replies, especially helpful ones. 😁

Sherlock and John both realize that Molly has chosen a boyfriend who looks and dresses almost exactly like Sherlock. John is thankful that Sherlock restrained himself from commenting on that.

That was a perfect sequence. I got it right away - loved John's facial expression and eager look at Sherlock to see how he would react to his doppelganger.

Something I didn't get right away was this:

At the foot of the stairs after meeting Molly's new boyfriend, Watson and Sherlock are putting on their coats to go out and meet the press. After Sherlock ties his scarf, he pauses as if in thought and sighs with his hands still in the air. At first I thought he was reacting to something John was saying, but that didn't make sense. I finally figured out that he was thinking about the fact that Tom tied his scarf the same way he does, and he's a bit put out at having a copycat.
