Oh my god. So. Many. Questions.

Why is their parents house on fire?
Why is Molly so upset?
Why is John down a well?
Who is Sherlock saying I love you too?

reply

It appears that Sherlock is saying "I love you" to someone other than Mycroft or John, but he could actually be avoiding eye contact by turning away from them.

reply

Or "I love you" could be a message or code that he's reading or repeating.

reply

That sequence looks very mind-palace-y to me, with such blank walls and John and Mycroft so still at such a distance. But who knows?

Have a lovely day - John Finnemore

SPOILER ALERT. Don't click the link if you don't like spoilers.

I saw these gifs from the new trailer and the one that shows Sherlock with his hands over his face. Look at Mycroft's face in the back and see if you notice anything. Scroll down to the comment section and you will see what I'm talking about. It may be Sherlock's mind-palace.

I'm not so sure it's actually a spoiler, though, since trailers are all about misdirection. We have a few snippets taken out of context that could be anything or nothing. I'm not going to get too worked up about anything we've seen so far concerning Sherlock. The actual program will undoubtedly surprise us a LOT no matter how much we've analyzed promotional footage and "Setlock" footage.

reply

I did notice that when I watched the trailer frame-by-frame on Youtube. And I wondered the same thing: is that a dead Mycroft? This has me worried.

reply

Third Holmes brother? Wasn't that supposed to be a storyline at some point or did I hallucinate that?

reply

How do you know it's his parents house?

reply

It looks like it; even I recognized it.

reply

I'm more hyped over this shows return than Game of Thrones.

That trailer only fueled it more. Ahhh!

reply

Sigh...they actually make it look dramatic and tense then they spoil by ending it by playing up to the tumblr Johnlock fans. Even if it isn't that that's what they're trying to hype with that. I rolled my eyes so hard at that

reply

Actually it has the Sherlolly fans going nuts on tumblr because he isn't looking at John when he says it. I believe he is saying it as clue or answer to a riddle, but gotta hand it to marketing for causing such a hype with that scene. They need those shippers to hype it. It draws in more viewers.

reply

Does he have that kind of a relationship with Molly? I mean, of course he cares about her, but even if they got romantic, wouldn't that take Sherlock years?

The show basically made it canon who is most important to Sherlock when Moriarty had snipers out outside their houses: Mrs. Hudson, John and Lestrade. I assume Mycroft wasn't included in that group bc he would be an impossible target to get so why try? The "I love you" is either code or he's saying it to one (both?) of the two men behind him.

But then in the next episode, Sherlock told Molly "the one person Moriarty thought didn't matter at all to me, was the one person who mattered the most."

Arthur, put the kettle on and dig out those lemon hand wipes.

reply

^^ Exactly. Whereas its not romantic because Sherlock does not do romance. He still cares about Molly.

reply

Mattered the most because her access to the morgue helped him to fake his death. There's always an ulterior motive with Sherlock...

reply

It was more than just that Molly had access to the morgue, though. Sherlock knew that he could completely trust her. Remember, she had to stay quiet in the face of John's emotional collapse over Sherlock's death. She does mean a lot to him--but I can't see it ever being romantic.

reply

She's a friend certainly but in that context why she "mattered the most" was because she was the one in the uniquely well equipped position to help Sherlock with his plan AND was under Moriarty's radar.
