Is the tone going to be like the show, or like Son of The Beach?

You know, Baywatch the tv show had a serious tone (everybody played their roles straight) and thus was "unintentionally" funny (which was one of its hooks).

While Son of The Beach (a parody of Baywatch) relished on being intentionally funny but by innuendo and double meaning.

I keep seeing that this will be a comedy, and R rated. So what do you think?

I really don't think an R rated movie will catch the tone of the original (PC-13 drama that was made fun and campy due to it taking itself seriously in such a ridiculous way it made it funny).

There's a reason why Son of The Beach didn't last though (besides the innuendo being impossible to translate to other languages thus making showing in other countries a total bust, I know for I saw it in Mexico with Spanish subtitles and it was a mess for anyone not fluent in "colloquial" English)

Son of the Beach was also a TV show, not a movie.

And this will be a straight comedy, as it has been said numerous times.
