7 Boring episodes out of 10 (spoilers)

What a massive waste of time.

It starts ok with the first 2 episodes. There is a mystery about why people are living inside silo, what is the door hidden at the bottom of the silo and what's going on outside. The last episode provides answers we already knew to the most obvious questions: the green nature seen outside is projected on the helmet and the hazmat suit is killing the person wearing it.

In between that, you get 7 episodes of sweet nothing about uninteresting characters doing things that barely make sense. 6 episodes are all about a stupid hard drive which supposedly contains secrets, but all we ever see when it's finally cracked is the same looping video of the fake green trees and birds which the show has shown a few times already by then. Are we supposed to be surprised or shocked? The family dramas between Juliette and father Sir Friendzone, officer Silo fever + wife and Gestapo Morpheus* + wife are all boring.

*Common can't act either.

This is one of the slowest shows i've ever seen. And everybody is whispering all the way through it. Didn't help that all the characters we get to know in the first episode are immediately written out of the action. Having a really hard time pushing through this.

The darkness of the whole silo is so irritating.
First, even in the farms where they are supposed to be growing food it is dark as a catacomb. But aside from that, people need sunlight to survive. The series is very different from the book, and both are good, and both have stupid flaws too. Still, I think it is better than 99% of what passed for science fiction these days as it is a critique of society and government couched in a science fiction drama.
I like it.

Well I powered through and i'm really glad I did. Gets really good in the last few episodes. But yeah, they coulda cut this down to a very solid six episodes. Like the old TV mini-series.

Watch the 2nd season, it is much better.

Yep. It advertises itself as a post apocalyptic sci-fi series but ultimately season one was just another police procedural in an unusual setting, like we haven't got enough of them. I found it dreary and predictable with ropey dialogue and some dodgy acting (Common I'm looking at you). Typically of TV shows they're dragging the story out, this should have been a mini-series.

The first season was indeed slow and boring, and a lot of stupid stuff - like why is the whole frickin' place so damn dark - even in the farming areas, orchards, cornfields, etc?

Why is the energy source that the whole silo depends on so poorly designed, and no one knows anything?

But, I am finding the second season, still slow, but much better in terms of plot themes, very relevant to today's political situation.

The book has a lot more dimensions and could be several more seasons.

I recommend anyone who watched this to see it through, at least for a while.

Check out the second season
