Questions about this pretty good movie [spoilers]

I was actually expecting a much worse movie than this turned out to be: well paced and entertaining.

However, a few things seemed odd:

1) What was it about the "killing them in order" thing? It seems important as the title of the movie involves these numbers, yet no explanation is ever given. Would this mean that Number 6 would be invincible? Why did she struggle to avoid being shot at? Would the world end if they died in the wrong order? Anyone who read the book, thanks for chipping in :)

2) Though that dog annoyed me, I felt sorry that no one even thought of going check on him after the fight. Worse, once he comes back with a broken leg, Number 4 doesn't even give him an "energy boost" or whatever he now knows he can produce...

3) That box... When he finds it on the table, knowing its something special from his father, how could ANYTHING be more important than discovering what's inside? Yet instead of opening it, he rushes in a dangerous situation where most likely he could have died... That was just wrong, no one would ever ignore the box's content.

Yeah, besides these 3 things, the movie was overall pretty fun to watch :)

In the book there is a charm on them that they can only be killed in numerical order for as long as they are apart. Once #4 and #6 meet the charm is broken and any of the remaining twelve can be killed in any order.

Him doing that wouldn't have helped.

He can't get into the book without his Cepan and after Henri died, he wouldn't know what anything inside it is.

Thx for the clearing up, I know it's difficult to put all a book's information in a movie adaptation, but still some of those things seemed crucial, like the number charm thing...
I guess that's what IMDB is for :)

I thought that was odd too, as the dog had just saved his life. I had the feeling that the plan was to give the dog an energy boost later in the car.
