Poor Dog (Spoiler Warning)

Why would they abandon the dog at the school after it came to rescue John?
Nobody even bothered to ask or check up on where the dog was after it fought
one of those alien animals and took some wounds from the stabbings.

It looked as if though the dog was about to die as it lay in the water all alone.

Why would they abandon the dog and not even care about its whereabouts?
The dog had to limp all the way from the school to the grassy fields where they were at the end. I mea c'mon, it was practically half dead and they made it walk probably a couple miles to be found? They should have been looking for him.

I had the same thoughts on the dog. Especially after reading the books, showing how the dog was an important ally in battles, as it was at the school anyway. Though in the movie, the school was ruined and police/fire were on the way, so they probably couldn't remain to look for the dog. John and the dog/chimaera could communicate too.

I was pissed that they didn't even think of the dog until it came limping up.

Exactly. The dog would've been my first thought.

They had to go and develop more pictures, developing pictures is always the most important thing in any situation.

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory.

I'd be under the impression that my 1,000lb pup could take care of itself. #6 even explains to john that it's a chimera that followed him from Lorian, I'm sure he assumed himself that the dog was pretty smart and resilient.

I think you know what I'm gettin' at Mr. President. We're gonna kill us a mummy.
