Will there be a sequal?
Will there be a sequel? This movie cries out for one. I saw it at the Cinema, and again tonight on TV, and I am hoping that there will be a sequel.

It does seem like there is supposed to be a sequel but it is not necessary. I just imagine that they did eventually find the other 4 and they lived happily ever after.
Lois & Clark 4EVER!!!
DC can SUCK IT!!!!
If it follows the books, there will be.
I am Number Four is the first in an entire series of books.
the next book in the series is the power of six...and that was just released this past august...as to whether or not they make that into a movie or not only time will tell...unfortunately for alex this could possibly be a repeat of the stormbreaker series...highly successful and popular book series but the movie doesn't do so hot so they scrap the idea of sequals
shareThanks for the response. I didn't realize that it was a book actually. Well let's just hope that there will be a sequel of the movie. They are making sequels of rather ordinary movies so let's hope that those who read the books will support the movies too. But I felt the way the movie ended it was definitely calling for a sequel. It was from Disney so hopefully they will make the sequal.

I really hope that there is a sequel since it would be nice to see who the identites of numbers 5, 7,8, and 9 would be.
sharethe video said it was fan made...so who they'd like to see in it...
my guess is the chance of a sequel is unlikely based on the fact that the studio didn't make their money back...actually they lost $5 million. and it was actually from dreamworks...not disney. if i remember correctly the ceo of dreamworks was originally in the animation department at disney but had some disagreements over certain movies or whatever and resigned.
Because the Stormbreaker film was *beep* the main actor was annoying, bits were chopped and changed about senselessly, there was a bit on a horse for no aparrent reason... Such a shame as Scorpio would've made a fantastic film.
shareWatching this film, I kept thinking the screenwriters got lost somewhere and forgot what they were doing. The fact that the book series isn't done answers a lot.
Seems like a lot of pre-teen/teen thriller novels have turned into comic book type endeavors that titillate curiosity but then move on to the next shocker before they bother to develop their answers.
You can get away with this type of sloppy storytelling if your audience members are already lifetime fans of the franchise, like the Marvel or DC comic icons, and people will still show up for the next few installments, but eventually even the die hard fans typically are worn down by the 3rd film (Superman. Batman. X-Men. Narnia. Even Star Wars to some extent.) I think only Harry Potter and Twilight have bucked the trend.
Sorry, but I think any sequel to this film will bomb hard, particularly because it would have a much smaller budget appropriate to the actual number of die-hard followers of the books, meaning even cheesier effects (love the glow-stick swords), lamer acting (did Number 6 base her character's interpretation on "Cobra" or "Blade"?), and an underwhelming score (come on guy's, you used 5 seconds of one Adele song and nobody even noticed.)
I wouldn't rule out a sequel. It made $144,500,437 worldwide. Only $55,000,000 here, but $89,000,000 overseas. That's not too bad on a $60,000,000 budget.

Have you actually heard from the movie company that they are planning a sequel?

I googled and found this today.
"'I Am Number Four' screenwriter Marti Noxon says plans for a sequel to the film look to have been shelved for the time being.
Plans for an 'I Am Number Four' sequel have been "shelved".
Screenwriter Marti Noxon believes a follow-on from the first instalment of the movie - which starred 'Glee' actress Dianna Agron, Alex Pettyfer and Timothy Olyphant -have been put on hold "for now".
She told Collider.com: "I think that that's on the back burner. The last I heard, they were shelving that idea for now. But, you never know. Sometimes the afterlife of movies burns brightly. They can certainly bring it back.
"But, right now, I don't think there's any immediate plans. My only real regret about that is that Number Six was really awesome and I would have liked to have seen a lot more of her. We need another kick-ass girl heroine."
Marti - executive producer of season six of TV series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' - continued her vampire-themed work by writing the screenplay for forthcoming film 'Fright Night', which stars Colin Farrell, David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse."

That's saddening. Hopefully with the next book coming out in August, that it might get more attention and then they will decide to do the film then.

Marti Noxon has experience with the TV series Firefly on which she worked, which was canceled by FOX Channel, but the public support from the 'Firefly fans' brought it back as a movie to finish telling Joss Whedon's story from Firefly in the movie 'Serenity'. So she knows what she is talking about.

I'll also be hoping for a sequel. I just read "I am Number Four" and liked it. Reading the next one, about Number Six before she met Four. I like the story line.
shareJust watched it on Showtime tonight and wouldn't mind a sequel, especially if they cast the same actors.

"I miss Dwight. Congratulations, Universe. You win."
A good rule of thumb is, if it doubles the budget it will spawn.

i have read all the books in the series and i loved each of them for their own merrits. i also loved the movie, which i saw before i heard of the book, very much. what i loved about it so much was that it didn't follow the book hardly at all. the main points were there but all the fine details were either taken out or twisted. that allows you to watch the movie and read the book as if they're two completely different stories. the problem with the sequel isn't that the first didn't get enough hype, it's really more like there was so damn much hype for the twilight series that there was no room for anything else. same thing with HP and the seeker, not to mention all the other books that no one even know about because of HP. this is a great story and i think that it would make a great sequel primarily because with all the changes in the first movie there's really nothing that they screwed up so much that they have to totally re-write the second. the only real problem i see is trying to track two different stories at the same time. most people don't have the attention span for it.
shareI have a couple questions for those who have read the book(s). First of all, how many books in the series have been published so far? The only thing that really annoyed me about this movie was that we never find out what's in that shiny box that Henri was holding for him. Is that revealed in the book, or was the author saving it for one of the sequels? Also, Number 6 had some kind of fancy curved blade that kills the bad guys instantly. How come Number 4 doesn't have one of those? I thought I might have seen one around his house or something at some point - did he just leave it behind when he left town?
shareNo, please no!!!!!!!!

If a sequel is made, for the sake of suspension of disbelief, the alien humanoids must go a complete physical design change. I never read the books, but goddamn, they are awful as they appear in the movie. And the stupid lines they utter. Is this a teenage book, by the way?
