Best movie ever made about the most uninteresting piece of humankind, criminals and corrupted cops. Almost quixotic.

Why do you consider criminals as uninteresting? I'd even say the majority of literature and film centers around criminals, because they fascinate at least all non-criminals. Sort of an escapism. Have a look on the imdb top 250:

1. The Shawshank Redemption (1994) -> criminals and corrupted cops (at least guards)
2. The Godfather (1972) -> criminals and corrupted cops
3. The Godfather: Part II (1974) -> criminals and corrupted cops
4. Il buono, il brutto, il cattivo. (1966)-> criminals and corrupted cops (at least statesmen)
5. Pulp Fiction (1994) -> ...

You do the math. :P

I thought it was a great film, extremely engaging -- I mean, Kitano basically does no wrong, this is his 16th and he's never made one I'd call less than great. Still, is it as good as something like Achilles and the Tortoise? I don't think so...

I haven't seen the Achille story yet. I look very forward to.
I loved the Kikujiro movie, I hope I won't be dissapointed.

I was counting his 4 minute short on TO EACH HIS OWN CINEMA.

I thought GETTING ANY? was a riot. Kitano just has a style I really dig.
