The Cars????
Anyone know what kind of cars the Yakuza Gangsters were driving? I think they looked like blacked out Toyota's?

shareThe high-end guys were almost exclusively seen driving either Mercedez Benz S-class (both platforms, the older W220 and the newer W221) or the flagship car from Toyotas own luxury brand Lexus, the Lexus LS (saw a hybrid there!).
The low-end guys who drive around harassing the local drug dealers and such were also seen in a Toyota Crown. Mind you, none of these cars were customized in any way (or blacked out), they were all stock. I think this is something the producers (or Kitano) turned attention to, as the cars are similar (and one of the most expensive ones you can find). Still, it's strange to see the MB W220 there as it was produced until 2006. Also strange there were no other German cars such as high-end BMWs or Audis (might be some Japanese thing, tho).
Well, there is a (black naturally) 7-series BMW shown very briefly during a night scene for about 5 seconds. You can just about make the shape and part of the back lights. There's really some interesting cinematography involving the big black limos evident in many scenes. Also if you're a car buff you can spot some interesting Japan-only large cool Toyotas and Nissans.
Another thing to notice: most Japanese (though Japan is a right hand drive country) prefer their imported cars as sold in their home markets -left hand drive no matter if the factories produce RHD versions. It's a japanese thing..
