Snake in bathtub (perhaps slight spoiler)

Why would anyone be that scared of a snake in a bathtub? It was just a constrictor for god's sake. And that reaction from someone who supposedly grew up in Ghana? I'm very confused.

Same reason Indiana Jones doesn't like snakes.

Yeah you know everyone in Ghana grows up with snakes in their houses and backyards. They are so common they even keep them as pets, true story.

On late night tv he had seen the movie "Anaconda" where the 40 foot snake pukes up Jon Vought intact after swallowing him.

I don't know everything. Neither does anyone else
