Superb Classic Yakuza Film! Outrage Beyond Shall Be Fantastic.

I think this film is horribly underrated. I think some of the criticisms on here would be dispelled just by rewatching the film a few times because there is a lot going on. I think this is up there with Hana Bi, Sonatine and Brother.

Should most definitely be higher than a 6.8!

SPOILERS!!!!

SPOILERS BELOW! BEWARE IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET!!

When Takeshi's character was stabbed in prison and he sits there with that laconically cool smile I assumed he was dying? However I've saw the teaser trailer for OUTRAGE BEYOND and Takeshi is alive and well with a new shade of hair color. I was curious as to whether it was a prequel or if he survived the attack?

Please rewatch the film before leaving a bad review there's a lot of character stories to follow but I think it's one of the greatest films about the degeneration of organised crime in today's society. The problems with the young turks in this film isn't local to Japan's underworld I believe there is a sense of confusion and immaturity within a lot of crime syndicates that were once successful and professional groups.

Just found my question answered! Kitano the cool violent psychotic legend survived that attack at the end.

I, too, really enjoyed this film. I'm not really sure why it's so underrated. We need more modern Yakuza movies like this.

Amen to that!

I, also, agree that it's underrated. There is a philosophical element to this movie that is quite good. Maybe, the problem is that it goes over some people's heads. It could be the violence to an extent, as well.

To tell you the truth, while I did like the film, I wasn't that impressed by it. However, it is without a doubt a very well-made film from a technical standpoint. Plus, it's not too shabby if you enjoy something ultra-violent.

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!
