I don't mean to nitpick but...

...when I watched the latest trailer, I couldn't help but be distracted by the sound effects used when someone gets hit. It kind of sounds like something out of a '60s kung fu movie. If someone was smashed with a cement block or similar object, it would NOT sound like that; if someone was punched in the face, it would NOT sound like that.

Still can't wait to see how audiences react to this at Cannes.

All his movies have big booming sound effects and they sound awesome.

booming indeed.

Just put it on the Underhill's tab.

If you find something you don't like about Takeshi's films -- you're doing it wrong. Seriously. He knows what he's doing.

Update: I was finally able to see Outrage, and I take it all back. I find it completely uninteresting, unlike most of his films.

Update 2: I gave Outrage another try and totally got it. It's good!

the guns sounded like weird cap guns in his first couple of films.

Outrage looks pretty ordinary to me. another careless effort like Brother. The fact that Warner Bros are involved is offputting to me. As if Kitano is desperately looking for a hit. And this movie does not look particularly exciting, and the reviews have been decidedly mixed.

i'll keep an open mind, but i'm not expecting much at this point. 'Dolls' was the last Kitano movie that really impressed me.

Truth.

I try to remain as unbiased as possible, but Kitano's the most perfect director this world has..

I love how people act like they deserve a cookie because they've figured out that movies are, in fact, not real --- yet they fail to realize that many movies use this very unreality towards specific, aesthetic goals. But yes, someone getting punched in the face would NOT sound like that.

I admit that I didn't really express my feelings as well as I could have. It wasn't really the unrealistic nature of the sounds effects that bothered me; it was just that they sounded really hokey and distracting to me. There seemed to be a big disconnect between the modern, slick look of the film and the unconvincing sound effects used in the trailer. But did my post really require such a rude response? Oh wait, yes it did because these are the IMDb message boards, home to so many douchebag keyboard warriors, elitist snobs and trolls.

What's interesting is that I got around to seeing "Outrage" and was pleasantly surprised to find that some of the sound effects used in the trailer were different from the actual film. I do feel like punching flanger216 in the face right now for being such a disrespectful prick, though. Or maybe smash a concrete block over his head. It would be fun. (Damn, now I've become just another one of those jerks on the internet...)

How lucky I am to have seen this movie before reading all this. It comes as a surprise to me ..... why watch a trailer if you know that the film is worth watching? I have seen the movie and dint notice too bold sound-effects, as i was caught up in story, which is not easy to get straight the first time one watches it. So 'flicking through' it made me watch the whole movie again - and again. The lack of musical dominance accentuates/strengthens the story and its sound-effects too. I havent seen any other Takeshi Kitano films, therefore I will watch more of his.... this one is great!
from another thread I have heard concerns about the sex scene. Its beautifully done and doesn't freak me out... the violence is nothing for less 10-13 I think.

(thats my first comment on imdb, please be nice :)

Zatōichi has its CGI sword strike blood. Outrage has its gun blast effects.🐭
