How did the family know Tom's name?
Tom wakes up as the daughter Alicia is tending to his wounds. He freaks out and scares her off, then her father Willy comes in, talks to Tom for a few minutes and tells him to clean up because dinner will be ready soon. Tom shaves, goes downstairs, sits at the table, Willy says grace and says "Thank you for our new friend Tom." Except that Tom never introduced himself and it seems unlikely that even if he talked in his sleep, he would say his own name. While it's true that we didn't see every second from the moment Willy left to when Tom went downstairs, it seemed like they were showing all the important bits of him meeting the family, so it doesn't seem like they would leave out such an important scene.
When Willy said his name, Tom looked up like he realized that something was wrong, but he never said anything.
All along, I was thinking it was another alien trick. Either virtual reality or that the family were working for the Espheni, but yet the arrival of Hal and his new friend seems to indicate that it was all real.
Was it just a goof by the writers, or is something else going on?
