What's the point of living in tents when there are houses everywhere?

I think it was too dangerous for 2nd Mass to live in houses 'cause there were hundreds of Skitters and Overlords looking inside them for humans all the time which we saw in some episodes and the house that Tom woke up in with people in it in the final season didn't really count 'cause it was said to be far away from where the 2nd Mass needed to be to defeat the Espheni.

Also people in tents were probably more aware; most people feel safer in a house.
