Hi guys, so we've all bashed on the series finale... but speaking of it, what was your favourite tv show series finale?
Mine has to be Breaking Bad. The final season leading up to the finale was also essentially flawless in my opinion. Everything was well thought out and executed more than satisfactorily, tying up pretty much every loose end and giving the audience closure to everything.
Babylon 5, The Wire and Spartacus, though history can take some credit for the latter. I liked how the writers handled the mystery of his death and the fate of the survivors.
Well, it isn't TV, but I thought Stephen King's "gunslinger" epic series had the only satisfactory ending to an epic I ever read (if you can actually call it an ending).
A lot of shows have pretty good endings, but we generally remember the bad ones. Falling Skies ending wasn't great, but it wasn't nearly the worst.
The best endings? As already mentioned, Breaking Bad and Six Feet Under had great endings. White Collar was good, I thought the Friends and Frazier finales were pretty good. ER was solid, going back farther Arliss and Oz were good. The issue with even good endings is that they frequently follow final seasons that weren't great. They almost always end a series a season or two too soon or too late.
The worst finales, to me, are the ones that are so bad they almost make you forget that almost every other episode was great. Dexter comes to mind as the worst one for me. That was my favorite show, until they rushed that least season. The whole season was subpar, and the finale was so bad it hurt.
Dexter was bad. I am not sure if I would say the worst but it was definitely disappointing. Seinfeld was the worst IMO and that was a comedy and it should not have been hard!
Flashpoint was good. As was Person of Interest.
So many shows do not know how to end well.
