that has to be..
The worst most laughable trailer I think I have ever seen , bordering on sad .

shareI totally agree!
shareLove HB but she hasn't picked a good script in a long time. Stop picking sure fire flops.
shareThis one isn't going to flop. It's going to do well like The Call did. There's already a comsiderable amount of social media interest. Berry is just right for these type of roles.
shareI honestly enjoy these movies. The Call I had a lot of fun with, I liked Getaway with Ethan Hawke. They are nothing special but just a fun hour and a half.
shareyup
shareIt reminds me of "Jazbaa" with Aishwarya Rai.
Scenery chewing galore!
This was so idiotic of a trailer I had to come to these boards after watching it. I see another thread right next to this one currently where a bunch of braindead morons are praising the trailer and the film. But THIS is the correct thread for someone who actually has a brain that saw this trailer.
So whats wrong with this film based on the trailer? Well for one, how in the hell did such utter stupidity in the script actually get greenlit and make it all the way into a filmed version?
What kind of kidnapper grabs a kid right from a playground where there are parents all around, many of which PROBABLY know the other moms who frequent there and who is who's kid. Some stranger walking by grabbing a kid by his arm and leading him off as the kid acts confused and asks questions is, frankly, ridiculous. Then on top of that, this maniac is so brazen and bold that he takes off in a very noticeable 80's car that stands out from all the common Camrys and Nissans on the road today. Then, this very determined daylight kidnapper decides this kid is so worthwhile to nab, that he will smash police bikes off the road to keep a hold of him. Nevermind that now he is facing life in prison if he even makes it past the inevitable police standoff, where he is 99% to be shot dead. Damn, this kid must be one hell of a prize to kidnap.
And then if you want to get technical, and slightly racist, why would he grab a black or semi-black kid when logically he should be going for the blonde-haired blue-eyed child of the wealthiest looking family/mom he can spot. After all, who will MOST LIKELY get him the biggest ransom? Just sayin....
I know this trailer is preying on the fears of suburban housewives and women in general everywhere. Showing the most extreme what if scenario that can happen. But please, this s--t just crossed over into hilariously bad territory. I hope this film flops hard.
I agree with some of your points, snatching kids for instance from playgrounds tends not to happen these days, they're more likely to get snatched while walking to and from school (well, they still do that in the UK anyway).
You refer to the kidnapper as a 'determined daylight kidnapper' - you imagine if you were kidnapping kids you'd hang around at night doing it? I think you'd be pretty lonely.
Smashing the police bike off the road would be a manner of stopping the police pursuing them, which the kidnapper would want obviously, so is not beyond the realm of probability.
And I'm sure I don't have to go into how bigoted the statement about blond-haired blue-eyed children earning you more of a potential ransom is, you acknowledge it yourself. How often are kids kidnapped for ransom? Often in films I grant you, but most kids are kidnapped by paedophiles in reality, so sorry if I had to wake you up to that unpleasant fact.
"I don't reckon I got no reason to kill nobody."
Thats true about the pedos, I never thought of that. I was thinking of this in a movie-style kidnapping, and in that universe it seems pretty ridiculous. At least the trailer comes across that way to me. Maybe others see it more in the way you do, in which case it can be taken more seriously. But I get the feeling this will be a ransom kidnap movie and it will get horrible reviews, and be cheesy as hell. Call it me predicting good old Hollywood based on their past films in this vein.
shareWhat about the shot in the trailer where Berry is getting dragged on the side of the car as it tries to escape the playground.
Every single person in my theater was uncontrollably laughing.
