My Take of 'A Haunting In Georgia'
So sad how they have butchered this movie. There was a TV series called "A Haunting" several years back I think it was on The Discovery Channel. They had two 2 hour shows, one was "A Haunting in Connecticut", and the second, "A Haunting in Georgia". The Wyrick family actually played themselves in the re-enactment in "A Haunting of Georgia" the TV series.
As far as "The Haunting in Connecticut" it pretty much followed the basics of the story with the movie but with A LOT of Hollywood thrown in. I had heard they were going to make a film of "A Haunting in Georgia" but when I saw the recent trailer, it appears that it has NOTHING to do with what was shown on TV, plus the Wyrick's wrote a book called "The Veil" with pretty much the same account. I was able to get a copy on ebay and was glad it was actually signed by both Lisa and Heidi Wyrick.
So I am fairly sure that this will probably go from theater to DVD very quickly and it has nothing to do with "A Haunting in Connecticut" other than both were featured on the series "A Haunting" It should have stood on its own name "A Haunting in Georgia" rather than have it being named "The Haunting in Connecticut 2: Ghost's of Georgia" which I think is misleading to the public. It may be a good scary show but I don't expect it to follow what I have seen about it on TV and what I read in the book.
NOTE: They have re-started the series "A Haunting" On Destination America Cable Channel.
