'Based on the true story'
I appreciate a "horror" movie with a sense of humor
shareI know. Oprah and the rest of the world practically ran the author of A Million Little Pieces off to some deserted island somewhere for falsely claiming his 87 days in jail were really more like 8.7 hours and yet we're allowing "filmmakers" (pardon me for a second while I chortle) to claim *this* is "based on a true story."
They should have just used "inspired by."
There are rules, people!
Its always amusing when they claim that ghost stories are based on reality.
More ike based on a true story in a sense that yes such story does exist as a folk tale to scare the local children into behaving when parents fail at parenting.

I love close minded people like this OP. Always fun to hear how ridiculous they are for thinking they know everything. lol
btw this movie is terrible and about as likeable as this OP. The documentary is good though.
I don't take pleasure in a man's pain, but my wrath will come down like a cold rain.
Whenever I see a movie about ghosts or exorcisms that say it's based on a true story, I always think of this Mitch Hedberg joke.
"I like when they say a movie is inspired by a true story. That's kind of silly. “Hey, Mitch, did you hear that story about that lady who drove her car into the lake with her kids and they all drowned?” “Yeah, I did, and you know what – that inspires me to write a movie about a gorilla!”
Once I saw it was about Mr Gordy I turned it off. I saw that entire Documentary and was disappointed that I would have to sit through it again.
