Surprised About Reaction To This Movie

Everyone I talk to about this movie either loves it or hates it. I love it. I actually went to see this movie seven times in the theater. It is probably the only movie I've ever watched in 3-D and enjoyed. It totally blew me away in 3-D. My only hope is that as the film ages maybe on it's 10th or 20th anniversary they will re-release it in 3-D to theaters again. Here's hoping.

"THAT THE PROBLEM! One son who can't say boo to his wife, and the other, the other just gives up!"

I didn't like it. I'm more into realistic talking like moviegoer.
When I watch a film I want to have fun that or it needs to be realistic.
This movie is no fun, This movie is unrealistic. This movie is boring.
This movie is an insult to sci-fi. That's just my Opinion.
You might love this movie, but there are tons better movies out there.

Not to worry.

There is no doubting your conviction. I agree with the first, disagree with the last 3.

True.

I loved it in the cinema, wasn't 3D but still great. I did wonder if it would work on DVD because it is such a BIG film. Happy to report it does. I think they must have done something clever with the sound to stop it blowing up the speakers and it is smaller so you see more of the character - which works for me. And, slightly stupidly, I still found myself so involved I was tensing up and willing her to make it.

I enjoyed it. the loneliness, helplessness made me uncomfortable.

Yup and IMO, that's exactly what holds it up in viewings OUT of the theater. This was a remarkable film to see on the Big Screen and a solid example of why we should continue to want to go to the Cinema, rather than just Streaming everything. An experience like this is hard to match but even at home, the other elements you mentioned make this worthy of repeated viewings.

I liked it a lot but didn't love it. I saw it in IMAX which was pretty friggin spectacular needless to say(but i had to say it anyway).

Technically it's a masterpiece. As an overall film it could've used some touch up on the dialogue IMO. Clooney's stuff was too clowney for my taste. I get that he was a veteran and all but take it down a notch.
Then(when on screen alone) I felt some of Bullock's dialogue contained too much "explanation" of things going on that she was doing. No need for all of that stuff. Yes, we know the space junk is coming again. The director has made that perfectly clear. Too much talking to herself. Some of it was necessary(obviously) but not all of it. Have some faith in your audience to "get it" without spelling it all out for them. > See Tom Hanks in Cast Away

Anyway, i'm nitpicking. Alfonso Cuarón really knows how to immerse you into the environment. Loved Children of Men. Looking forward to his next film.

This movie was awesome for me, the cinematography, the score, I like kowalski's easy going temperament to stone's bervous nelly. I did find Stone to get on my nerves, but not unrealistic.

People not liking the movie doesnt surprise me, but those people nitpicking the movie than claiming it was "ruined" because of it irritate me. If I ever met those types of people in real life, I'd smack them across the face and tell them to get a fxxking life.
