Would love a sequel...

I'd like to see a sequel to this movie, showing Skeeter home for a visit years later, perhaps sometime in the 1970s, or even now. It would be interesting to see how Mae Mobley turned out, if her mother showed more independence, the changes in relationships due to the civil rights movement and its aftermath, and see if Abileen was able to establish her own writing career. I'd sure go see such a film!

I would have liked a sequel too, but I think it would have had to be set in (like you said) now.

I don't know if Abileen etc would still be alive though. I'd think Yule May (who looked younger) and Minnie's daughter would.

Johnny--or even Celia runs for office. She's not good at homemaking, but she is good at lawmaking. She helps repeal all those stupid and harmful laws. Because she is working she stops drinking and is not lonely.

Interesting to see what became of Stuart. Did he ever renounce his views as world changed--or get left behind.

I think Mae Mobley turns out a lot like Skeeter, only tougher. They're both funny-looking, with mothers that don't consider them good enough (but Elizabeth is way worse than Charlotte, who at least seems capable of compassion and affection). They both lose the most maternal people in their lives (Abileen and Constantine), under unfair circumstances.

Mae Mobley might become a feminist, and she will definitely be involved in the civil rights movement...

Aibileen continues to write as Miss Myrna (going off the novel now, not the movie), also working on a book about her life and her son's life. Years later, it somehow comes out that a black woman has been teaching white ladies how to take care of their own homes. This causes a minor controversy that quickly dies down because they all secretly rely on her to get by.

I guess I'd like to see Minny as a single mum, taking care of the kids (and Celia) on her own. Maybe Leroy comes back to cause trouble and she just fcking kills him.

Skeeter basically becomes Carrie Bradshaw, with less sex but lots of journalism awards.

I don't want to see Celia on her own. She deserved supportive husband after everything those women put her through. Johnny loved her as she was.

I think you mean Minnie leaving Leroy and not having to be maid anymore. Maybe going to school and being something besides Maid.

Would like to see Elizabeth finally stand up to Hilly....tell her she is full of it and that people can do what they want.

Sam the guy in the dinner who remembers everything and accurately runs for office. He is elected bc he knew all and saw all. Everybody knew him!!

Want to see what Sugar does with her life because she did not have to be a maid.
