Jessica Chastain

I loved Jessica Chastain in this movie. Her character is the bright spot in the whole movie.

But I was appalled to read in the Trivia section that she drank melted soy ice cream to gain weight for this role. Really?? How damn skinny was she before this movie??

I think that when I see her now, my reaction is always "what happened to her" yes, she looked so good in this.

I was in awe of her charisma

OMG! I am as well. She is awesome!

I thought she should have won the Oscar for this movie, and also for zero dark thirty.

But she wasn't scrawny in ZDT. She naturally looks normal and not beanpole. Did she come off a role where she had to be mega thin before this one?

It's not about looking like a beanpole. She's a vegan and she works out so she's way fitter and more muscular than a pregnant woman in the early 60ies would be.
It was her choice to get more curvy before the movie to more closely resemble what Celia was in the book. She's a pin-up.

She was very thin and wanted to gain weight to get boobs and hips. Celia in the book was described as look alike for Marilyn Monroe.
What did you do, Ray?

I just figured she was wearing padding.

She was lovely in this. Jessica played her beautifully. I agree about the weight gain too! And I wonder if she really ate the fried chicken or if they made her a vegan alternative.

reply

I think they made a vegan alternative. It's in some interview somewhere where they had a hard time making a believable fried chicken wing out of tofu.

reply

Yes! Chastain is a total babe.

reply

They made the fried 'chicken' wing out of cauliflower.

The mirror... it's broken.
Yes, I know. I like it that way. Makes me look the way I feel.

reply

She is one fantastic actress.
