I liked Filth a lot,it was one of my favourite films of last year but Trainspotting is superior in just about every department that I can think of.

The ending was a lot better in "Trainspotting". I thought that "Filth" had a better cast though and I think that James McAvoy is a better actor than Ewan McGregor.

Trainspotting is considered one of the greatest pieces of European cinema of the last 30 years, no?

Trainspotting all the way. James McAvoy was brilliant in this film, but the film itself could in no way touch Trainspotting.

Over-all I prefer 'Trainspotting' over 'Filth', but I like McAvoy's performance more than McGregor's.

Overall I definitely love Trainspotting more. But I do prefer James McAvoy's performance. And I really think I also prefer the ending of Filth. It was just perfect IMO. The perfect blend of irony, comedy, and tragedy...

Filth is a great movie and Macavoy is just superb, but Trainspotting is a true "classic".
