He was absolutely brilliant in this and he has already won the British Independent film award, the empire best actor award and the Scottish bafta. He deserves a lot of recognition for this performance and it is one of the best performances I have seen in years.
shareI agree. Unfortunately, Magnolia released the film in the US in a way that erased all the chances James might have had to get at least a nom. Which was an incredibly stupid thing to do, because even if nominating such an extreme performance is rare, they could have TRIED.
I'm happy about the Scottish Bafta but still disgusted with the regular, international Bafta for not nominating him. It's like they didn't want McAvoy among their prized Hollywood stars. Were they afraid his performance would be considered so much better than theirs?
Glad to hear he won these awards at least, he deserves so much more for this!!
