Totally agree.

Started out so cynical and slick and got darker and rawer in a way I really liked.

And McAvoy was riveting. Even when I knew what he was going to do next, I was fascinated by how he was going to do it. He conveyed so much inner conflict and torment so well just with his eyes.

I'd love to see more movies as gripping as this one.

Such an excellent film.

The psychological decline that you saw James go through was gritty, filthy, and really showed what the world is really about. One of the most honest films I've ever seen, and I enjoyed every second of it. Those who are easily offended won't like it, but I thought it was golden.

Christmas DVD number three... Jamie Bell's Scottish accent isn't entirely successful. (I do have a lot of time for him as an actor. But, he definitely has an issue with accents and should probably just stick with his native County Durham one...) James McAvoy is spectacular... Eddie Marsan is fab... Jim Broadbent is fab... Shirley Henderson is fab... Very funny, very original, very Scottish - I loved it.
