This is McAvoys tour de force

Can't believe this movie didn't get a wider release. Can't believe how good McAvoy was in this. Like a slightly grizzled and nastier Ewan Mcgregor without the star wars baggage

James McAvoy is a very interesting actor. His portrayal of this emotionally and psychologically disturbed man is spot on

I still find it hard to believe that James McAvoy didn't get more awards for this, and was even cruelly snubbed in his own country, by the BAFTA. There are some actors that get it easy, and others, that even though they bare their souls never get enough recognition. Unfortunately I think that McAvoy falls in the second category.

Dude gave a hell of a performance and pretty much owned the film, but the truth is, his character was a straight-up d***, for real, and a real bastard. Plus the film's difficult as hell to watch at times.

reply

His acting was scary good. I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. Haunting really.

reply

agree with all the comments. never been a fan of his but he's tremendous in this

reply

Yes, he is excellent and the film was as well.

reply

Very good and he does remind me of a grittier Ewan Mcgregor. They both have that sly charm.

reply

I said the same thing. He's great in this movie.

Erik Lehnsherr: You want society to accept you, but you can't even accept yourself.

reply

I agree with you. I thought Filth was great and should've gotten more attention. And McAvoy , he literally blew me away in this but to be truthful he blows me away in all his movies.

I agree. McAvoy turned in an Oscar-worthy performance IMHO.
