Lack of continuity

Okay, I know this has been discussed here before, but the lack of continuity was really glaring in the last show. They show Buddy and crew making a Groundhog's Day cake, which is always celebrated on Feb. 2. Then they show Buddy relaxing at home with his wife and kids and new baby, who has yet to be born, ha. Baby Carlo's birthday was Feb. 14 of this year, yet there Buddy is, enjoying his family after a hard day working on the Groundhog cake. Then he later mentions that his mother hasn't seen the new baby yet, because she's been on a cruise for several weeks. Uhm, O-K. It was just a little jarring, the messed-up timeline.

BTW, they must be cutting it pretty close in filming production, filming the birth of the baby, who is only one month old, as of yesterday, and airing it last week. I thought it took 4-6 weeks after filming, to put the episodes together to air on tv. Ahah!! Perhaps THAT is why there's the glaring lack of continuity.....

maybe they just figure a lot of people want to see the baby, so they edit him in?

or maybe they had a last-minute problem with permission to show a segment on a cake (the customers didn't sign the release to be on tv, or, they had signed it but then raised a stink later, so they just cut it), and they needed filler?

you know, they could have filmed the Groundhog Day stuff February 2, then filmed the at home stuff later, after the baby was born, and just put it all in the same ep. There was probably a rush to get that episode(as well as the ep where the baby was born) on air asap so we could see it, who knows? I don't think the timeline was messed up at all.

I agree the Christmas episode was weird, and I too was wondering when they taped all of that.

I came to this board for the same reason, to find out why in the Valentine's episode there was no mention of Lisa giving birth on that day. Did they film separate scenes with those couples on the Empire State building because we all know Buddy was with his wife in the hospital that day.
