Its hilarious to walk by there everyday

I walk by Carlo's bakery everyday on my way to work and its pretty funny to see a line about 150 people deep waiting like idiots to go into a bakery...Ive never actually sat there and timed it but Im sure they are all waiting outside the place for atleast an hour before actually getting to go in...SAD!

Its not only that the place itself is nothing special but the food is actually really bad...and since the show aired its more expensive from what Ive heard.

Comparing them with the guy on the Food Network is like comparing Rachel Ray with Martha Stewart -- no comparison, really.

The Ace of Cakes guy?

I'm wondering if Buddy is actually in the bake shop all the time like he seems to be on the show. Do those 150 people outside the shop ever get to meet him? Just curious.

Chances are, if your parents never had kids, neither will you.

On the food - Ive never tasted any of the big display cakes so I cant comment on those , but on the regular cakes/cannolis/pastries/cookies etc , they are all very bland tasting..absolutely nothing special about them..you would think they came from Shoprite or A&P if they werent on display there...the crumb cake they make on the other hand is really good though.

And on if whether or not Buddy is actually there - Ive seen him a couple times outside the shop talking to people on line..and each time a camera crew was there. He doesnt actually live in Hoboken nor has he grew up here. Ive seen his mother around town a lot though , my guess would be that she grew up here.

The cakes are now sold in stores. The texture is nice -- they slice into real thin pieces -- but the flavor is so-so and the icing is sickly sweet.

Please put some dashes above your sig line so I won't think it's part of your dumb post.

Yeah thats a lot of places though..pizzeria's , chinese places , deli's..they all have employees that dont wear gloves and handle food..its def pretty gross but ordinary nowadays.

I don't think the gloves would make much difference;they would still wipe their noses and go back to work ,only they'd be doing it with gloves on.
I think I already written on this board about part of a docu I saw about some fancy bakery where everyone wore gloves. You see one of the salesgirls take pasteries with her gloved hands, put it in a box, take the money (still with the gloves)give change and then take the pasteries for the next customer with the now by money contaminated gloves. At least at Carlo's Bakery they've shown that in the shop some handle the cakes and somebody else handles the money.

What did the barmaid say?
"Oh,yes. Oh,yes.Oh gods,yes."
About Mort Kemnon,dumbass?.

I went to Carlo's last Friday and can tell you that the people in line probably stand there for more than an hour. I got there at about 7:08 a.m. (eight minutes after they open) and was able to go straight inside. We were still there over an hour.

Also in response to the question of whether Buddy is there...if he was I didn't see him. I didn't see him, his mom, any of his sisters, or brothers-in-law. I think I did see Danny's daughter (the one Cousin Anthony asked out). I think them being there is "just part of the show".

The cheese danish and cupcakes I bought were pretty good but nothing to brag about.
