It's nasty seeing them rub their hands all over the cake. I'm watching how they made a motorcycle cake, and they used a ton of rice krispies on it. Then to frost it, they used their bare hands to scoop the frosting on *and* spread it with their bare hands! GROSS!!!!

I haven't done a lot of work with decorating cake, but I imagine it would be really hard to work with gloves on.
shareI do, and it is. I don't know about those people, but I'm constantly washing my hands. I also work occasionally in an establishment where people wear gloves, and can say with confidence that wearing gloves is no guarantee they're being sanitary either. It's a lot easier to wash your hands again after absently touching your hair or your face than it is to change your gloves. Less expensive, too.

shareYou should be more grossed out by the girls who wear nail polish. That's more disgusting than them not wearing gloves.
I work in a restaurant and I once watched a dishwasher wear gloves while putting the dirty dishes through, then go to the other end and put them away wearing the same gloves. Proper procedure is to either have a dish catcher or for the washer to put them through, then wash their hands before touching any of the clean dishes. You also don't get a feel for how dirty your hands are when you're wearing gloves.
But the nail polish? Always be wary of food service workers who are allowed to wear polish. It can chip off into your food and your drinks.
Lol. that grosses me out too. But not as much as seeing all the stuff in the giant trashcans. Yeah, they were probably purchased brand new and never used for anything else....but it gives me the willies.
I have seen him mixing stuff up with his bare hands too. Like the creams. Let's hope he washes a lot!
