Remy

Remy was married to buddy's sister Lisa and then supposodly went to prison for rape or something. No mention of his status on the new episode with the family secrets. It actually made it seem like they were hiding something when they showed Lisa's three children on the family children and no husband.

reply

It's an issue that is very difficult for the family (especially those involved) to cope with. And not good for business either.

reply

when I saw the ad for the 'family secrets' episode, I thought to myself, 'really, you guys wanna go there? because you know the audience is wondering about Remy, and you're never going to mention him'

I did cringe and feel bad, though, when Buddy went out of his way to note that his blond son was actually his...but would he ever have said anything else?

reply

How could anyone look at Lisa and her father and NOT know Marco was their child??

reply

because, in general, dark hair and dark eyes are dominant genes to blond hair and light eyes, witness the other kids (and all the other kids in the extended family)...plus, and I don't personally subscribe to this, but some on this board have spoken disparagingly of Mrs. Buddy, so I guess they wouldn't think it out of the realm of possibility that she would step out on him

...and has her father been shown before the cruise episode?

reply

Yeah. He was in the episode where Buddy thought he could make good pizza. That was his pizza parlor.

To me, Lisa doesn't seem the type, but regardless, between all the cameras and 4 kids, how would she be able to manage an affair? Sad, really, that people would say such.

reply

Marco having blonde hair does not mean anything, I am one of four kids and my father is Italian just like Buddy & Lisa's kids. Me and my 2 brothers are brunetts and my sister is a blonde and she is most definetly my full sister. So people arguing that Marco's hair color means he might not be Buddy's son is just rediculous, he just resembles Lisa's side more.

reply

I agree. My Mom and her family are dark haired, brown eyes. Dad and his sister blonde and blue-eyed. They had two brunettes, 2 light blondes, 1 strawberry blonde.

reply

That reminded me of this Mexican family I knew back in the 1980s. All of the mother's and father's children (and from their previous marriage's) were all dark skinned, dark haired and both the parents were as well.

Imagine their surprise when she had a red haired and extremely light skinned child. They knew she never stepped out and she said that she remembered that her grandpa talking about his grandfather as being a red haired/light skinned man.

My father had brownish/reddish hair, my mother had dark brown hair that looked black. My brother (who is older) had platinum blonde hair. His hair by the time he reached puberty was sandy blonde and by the time he was 18 was the same darker brown my father was. Now his son has the same type of hair, very blonde and looks like neither parent but when you look at my brother's baby pictures looks just like him.

If you don't have much to begin with, then you don't have much to lose.

I know seriously! It's like people have no idea how dominant and recessive genes work. They don't "mix", they get selected at random, and recessive traits just have slightly lower odds of hitting, but they still hit all the time, and they can go for generations before surfacing again. Our family is Italian and my uncles kids are all brown hair and brown eyes, except for one who has pure blond hair and light blue eyes, even though both of his parents have brown hair and brown eyes. Where does he get it? His moms grandma, who looks exactly like him -- pure blond hair and light blue eyes. Then he has similar facial features to both of his parents.

reply

Total generalization. There are many families with blondes among brunettes. My cousin and her husband are dark, their oldest son is. Their younger two are blonde and a red head. I mean total carrot top not strawberry blonde. It's odd as on both families there is no real history of red, but nce in a while a carrot appears in our family. Another cousin had it till about puberty then went brown. This one is 16 and still a carrot.

reply

Red hair is a VERY strong gene, as my family has proven! My father is a redhead and my mother has dark brown hair - I'm a redhead, and my sister & brother have reddish-brown hair. Then my reddish-brown sister married a man with brown hair, and they had one brunette and a BRIGHT redhead. Seriously, my nephew's hair is almost blinding. :)

So yeah, brown hair isn't always dominant... and genetics aren't a perfect science, there are always variables and exceptions.

Ex husband who can't be on the show as he is in prison. He pled guilty but tried to withdraw plebe after, claiming his lawyer convinced him. He was sentenced to. 9 years.

I know it has been a long time since you put this post up but I found an article about it.

Remigio "Remy" Gonzalez, brother-in-law of Buddy Valastro of the TLC reality TV show "Cake Boss," has been sentenced to nine years in prison for sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in New Jersey.
Gonzalez, 34, of East Hanover, was sentenced Wednesday after a judge refused his request to withdraw the guilty pleas he made in June to two counts of aggravated sexual assault. He also must register as a sex offender.

In seeking to withdraw his pleas, Gonzalez admitted he was guilty of some illicit acts. But he claimed his former lawyer pressured him into admitting certain acts he didn't do.

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by The New Jersey Star-Ledger, Gonzalez was arrested in Aug. 2010 after detectives met with two witnesses who claim Gonzalez admitted to them committing multiple assaults on the teen.

The two witnesses claim the assaults occurred in March in East Hanover and Florham Park.

The TLC show "Cake Boss" focuses on Buddy Valastro as he manages his bakery business in Hoboken, NJ, along with his big Italian family, who run the shop with him. Gonzalez has appeared on the show as a cake decorator.

Morris County prosecutors say Gonzalez will likely be deported to Mexico once he's freed from prison.

So even when he gets out of prison his disgusting azz will not be around to harm any more children in the US. I feel sorry for the little Mexican children he is around in the future. I can only hope and pray that he won't hurt any kids any time...ever again.

Marrying and breeding with that pervert doesn't exactly reflect well on Lisa. Nor does employing him reflect well on Buddy. Of course they aren't going to talk about it. It was a glaring omission in that episode in particular.

Although I am surprised they never took the chance to lecture her about marrying a non-Italian and repeat Italian like 20 times.

You did just fine, Clarence. Now go git yo'self some hot cornbread!

Oh come on now you really think Lisa or Buddy had any clue he would do that?
Not saying it is OK but how does it reflect poorly on THEM? Good poor Lisa & her kids!!

Of course they didn't know. But to say it doesn't reflect badly on them? Not only did she get romantically involved with a pedophile rapist, but she married and had a kid with him. I don't know if he worked for Buddy and met her that way (If so, Buddy must feel terrible guilt if he has any conscience) or Buddy hired him because of her, but hiring such a person doesn't show good judgement on his part either.

Sure, it's easy to feel genuinely sorry for them being fooled, but their association with him doesn't reflect well on their personal judgement. That's why they never even acknowledge it.

So if they didn't KNOW how can it reflect poorly on their judgement?
Certainly you've known SOMEONE who turned out very different than you thought originally? One of my husbands good friends turned out to be a pedophile, which we only found out when I saw him on the online registry. We had NO idea. People don't usually advertise this stuff about themselves. I don't hold anything against Lisa or Buddy for marrying him or hiring him. They don't want the bad press and negative attention, sure. I think they are correct in not addressing it on the show. Some things are too real even for reality TV.

oh certainly! I'm SURE Lisa said, "SCHWEEET CHILD MOLESTER. COME, let's have our own baby for you to abuse!"

It's nice that YOU have 20/20 hindsight.

This is the way it is :

Lisa did nothing wrong.
Buddy did nothing wrong.
The child(ren) did nothing wrong.

REMY is the bad person here.

yeah, Buddy, Lisa and family are probably horrified. They probably kick themselves for not seeing he was a louse sooner. STILL NOT THEIR FAULT!!!

I hope, whichever child(ren) were involved, get the therapy they need.
