Income inequality

I'm all in favor of capitalism and I admire the entrepreneurial spirit, but is anyone else troubled by, for example, one good worker getting a new car while 99+ other good workers continue to ride the bus and live paycheck-to-paycheck?
Let's assume for the sake of discussion that show's ending is not staged.

Yes, of course I'm troubled. This is just 'feel good' marketing crap. Offering $10,000 here, $20,000 there to improve a few lives pays the companies back many-fold. Actually providing help across-the-board with some pay raises or other benefits doesn't have the same return on investment.

reply

Exactly.

That's socialism!

We must have income inequality, or we can't have capitalism! 

Seriously though, I agree with you that it'd make MORE sense to give EVERYONE salary increases, etc. vs. catering to a few people and giving them extra rewards.

Or what they could have done, a bit too late after 7 seasons, is set a budget aside. Give a certain percentage to the four employees they visit and then a percentage to all those franchises.

I was thinking about it myself and the only problem I see is that the franchises would be pocketing all the money.

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)

Yeah, I think its ridiculous that the boss decides to award hand-selected employees gratuitous gifts and money. These "handouts" are insulting and paternalistic.

reply

It's also rather dumb/arbitrary how they decide to give some of the featured employees much better gifts than another featured employee, as if one deserves more because of some hardship.
