So basically, you whine and cry about your life at work at get rewarded

Notice how they are there to train someone for a job but every one of the worker's always ends up with some sob story about how hard their life has been only to get some great trip or scholarship or whatever in the end. I mean, if I'm training someone, they're not going to want to know about how I feel over my aunt's uncle's cousin's sister's baby's goldfish that got flushed down the toilet when I was five and now I'm struggling to make it every day because of it. This is pretty much telling people if you complain enough at work then all your dreams will come true.

It is quite convenient that everyone with whom the undercover boss works has issues. And yes, these people provide waaaay too much information about themselves to someone they don't know. I also have to wonder who determines which employees are chosen.

reply

I was suspicious when at least 4 episodes in a row had employees admitting that they had been struggling with drug addiction. This show must be setup and scripted. Who comes out and admits that to someone they've met for the first time?

reply

The show sets a bad example. It's not the only one though. Ellen Degeneres does the same thing on her show: gives money to people who come up with a good "down on their luck" story. America has become a nation of people who think they are entitled to everything. Guess what. You're not. My parents struggled when they first got married but they would have never dreamed of asking for a handout. People back then had more pride.

reply

You got that right. The current generation of young people definitely have a sense of entitlement.

reply

It's not the young people asking for a handout, its the older people handing out.

Now ask me how I really feel, I'm just here for the comments.

reply

Yeah it's a bad example of multimillionaires (Ellen and Oprah and whoever else included)giving away THEIR money they EARNED to whomever they please and for whatever reason. I don't want to argue with you but I must respectfully disagree. God forbid (and I really mean this)that extreme hardship would hit your family out of nowhere. Job loss, foreclosure and serious illness. If someone started a gofundme campaign for you and raised $500,000. Are you telling me your "pride" keep you from saving your family home and getting much needed medical attention to a loved one? Now granted I do believe some of these stories are out there, lol! But some are legit. I'm going through some "hard luck" now with my family. And if I was a multimillionaire or billionaire I would help people. If I could. Peace.

He is risen!

I think some people are just lazy, and unmotivated and make poor choices, then expect everyone else around them to give them handouts.

Conversely, what about all the super rich who take advantage of the masses' hardwork on a daily basis?

It seems convenient to pick on poor people, but rich people should esp. be scrutinized since their greed contributed to the recession.

reply

I think you are just down in the dumps that you were not a chosen one. LOL

CEOS have a right to reward who they want and I bet the contract, with whoever the producers were, was to outline that they provide a reward in the end. I mean it is a show!!!

Then again, I work as a brand ambassador and many of the public I come in contact with, do tell me their problems. Weirdly enough, subconsciously, you probably did something about yourself and you did not even know it! It is human instinct to kind of spill the beans, without even knowing.

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)

reply

It's pretty obvious that the production team deliberately choose people who have a sob story to tell. If that's not the case there must be a hell of lot of people working in retail who have had an addiction problem/health problem/a family member who has recently died.

reply

I'll have to disagree with the handout issue. Most of these "feel good" stories that you see in TV, often feature(from my vantage point anyway) some pretty hardworking people, who were dealt a pretty $htty set of cards, that were really not the result of lazy, careless choices.

The point is...they're TRYING to make a better life for Themselves, in spite of some pretty huge roadblocks. It would be a very different story if we were seeing someone who was lazy, irresponsible and unmotivated being rewarded. In fact, the UC often either fires or attempts to retrain a slacker employee.

I'm not sure if it has been said but most of today's youth are LAZY..they don't want to work for thier money and when they do work they want such a high dollar amount per hour. And it's not just the youth. This country has become just plain L A Z Y.
