"Contest" doubles: Are they real?

So in many episodes there is a cover story of being in a contest for a job at x company. But does the production company have a double who actually works when the real boss is at another site? How do they do the "competitor" or is it assumed that their so-called rival is at another location (from where the boss trains)? I ask because I seem to remember one of the Season 1 (or 2) cab rides where one of the employees is torn as to whom will receive her vote. She mentions someone who is homeless?

Wow. I hadn't thought about this for a long time. Yes, back in its early days, the show did have another 'contestant' who would pretend to be vying for the same job or prize; at the beginning of the episode, after the UB was in disguise, they'd flash between the UB and the other 'contestant.' I really don't know when they stopped showing that, and I also don't know if they're still using another 'contestant' when the UB isn't there. Interesting...

Thank you.

Oh, you're welcome. 

Try to catch some earlier episodes when they're repeated (like on TLC or A&E), so you can see how it was originally presented.

Probably z list actors, so they are probably homeless and just glad they are being paid union wages, if they are a part of SAG-AFTRA. I am aspiring to be an actor and would love to be paid to show myself once and then pretend I was the double, sit back and get paid mulah!

TV/FILM business is awesome to be in!

Better watch out, better start crying. Better hurry up, run and hide. Krampus is coming to town! >:)
