Firing the Bikini's waitress..

Just because she didn't treat her waitressing job at a knock-off Hooters as a career choice. Does anyone? You can't be a company that doesn't pay squat, even to people who have been promoted (like Henry, the kitchen supervisor) and expect people to treat the job as more than a temporary solution. I think that Hooters even realizes that being a Hooters girl is just something fun to do while you're young and hot to make a few bucks. I've never heard of Bikini's and it already doesnt seem to be doing well.

reply

Agreed. He totally screwed her over. That CEO is a womanizing pig that treats his employees like worthless animals. This episode will not help Bikinis.

reply

In fairness his whole life philosophy and corporate motto are that anything is justified if it creates attention, no matter how slimy or sexist it might be.

So from that perspective, he's a "winner".

reply

Totally agree. I hope the breasturant goes under and soon.

I want the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

reply

I have to agree. He struck me as nothing but a scumbag taking advantage of women for his own gain. (Isn't that what a pimp does?)

reply

I can't believe he fired that girl because she doesn't want to serve drunk men while wearing a bikini for the rest of her life. Now he is buying implants for the other waitress. What a classy episode tonight.

Amazing isnt it? The stupidity that gets you through the day

reply

Stay classy, Bikinis.

I was suprised Jessica didn't run off in tears.

I'm like Tinkerbell, Finn! I need applause to live!

reply

Was what he did even legal?

reply

There was another CEO that fired an employee on TV on Undercover Boss. He was the CEO of Retro Fitness.

Grands...Glad to see you come and glad to see you go

reply

I was wondering if this was legal as well... Is there anything like kickstarter for people who need lawyers? I would love to contribute to that girl's legal fees and take that douchebag CEO down. I have no actual data, but I'm just guessing that if every person who didn't love his/her job got fired, this country would have around an 80% unemployment rate.

reply

1. refusing to wear the uniform (bikini, you work in bikini bar)
2. overserving a patron alcohol, not only dangerous but a liability issue

Firing her for not having passion alone would be illegal. But the other two things? No.

reply

(This episode just replayed on TV)

Well, she didn't want to wear it on TV, not necessarily at work, which I think is more than fair. (Honestly though, the Bikini's shirt is still kind of erotic in of itself, I don't see why they should all have to wear bikini's) At the end of the day, it just depends on what is on her contract as to if that is a good enough reason or not, and she should have known the kind of business she was applying for, but at the same time I'm not convinced that being filmed for a reality show is a part of that, especially as how some of the women featured had their faces blurred out if I recall.

There's some wiggle room in there for a legal debate (especially as the contract signed for being on Undercover Boss is a different one from whatever she might have signed with Bikini's, and are two separate things)... which could be bad for Bikini bars in general if someone were to make that an even bigger case over regulating what can be considered a "uniform" in the workplace before it gets considered "sexual harassment". (Which I feel like they all kind of were in an off-handed way)

I dunno, I feel like this show is just advertising disguised as "Extreme Home Makeover" kind of inspirational show, but this particular episode was pretty low class. I mean, I came away thinking "How can one possibly compare Hooters to this restaurant chain!?". This place makes Hooters look like a church! It kind of makes a porn studio look like an office job...

reply

I don't see why they should all have to wear bikini's

Ummm, because it is called, "Bikini's" and their kitsch is having good looking women walking around in bikini tops so guys can see their breasts jiggling around.

it just depends on what is on her contract

What contract? Those workers as "At-Will" employees, meaning they can be fired for most any reason and can quit whenever they want without any consequences other than loss of benefits.

I'm not convinced that being filmed for a reality show is a part of that,

She could have refused to be part of it. In addition, it isn't any kind of unreasonable request - no different than if a news crew was there covering crowd reaction to a big sporting event.

some of the women featured had their faces blurred out if I recall.

I don't remember anyone having their faces blurred. I do remember some of the pictures and brands being blurred out.

There's some wiggle room in there for a legal debate

She didn't have a contract and isn't in a union.

if someone were to make that an even bigger case over regulating what can be considered a "uniform" in the workplace before it gets considered "sexual harassment".

Since women working in strip clubs have no legal standing for their "uniforms" to be considered "sexual harassment" the women at bikini's have none either. In addition, it is highly unlikely that the management allows any real sexual harassment of their 'babes' by their 'fans.'

Hooters waitresses will lean forward on to a table with their forearms and use their upper arms to push their breasts together to show more cleavage - thus making better tips. And I've seen guys get run out of Hooters before because they've gotten grabby. The best they can hope for is they get out of there before the cops show up.

How can one possibly compare Hooters to this restaurant chain!?". This place makes Hooters look like a church!

You must be going to a Hooters in a Muslim country. When I go, I'm surprised if a girl has shorts which cover her entire tush. And there usually is at least one waitress who uses her cleavage as a pen holder.

With regards to this bartender, she should have been fired on the spot for serving the guy who was way drunk. While I think the law is complete and utter bullsh!t, it is the law and she allowed him to get way too drunk (skipping the part how the show is fake to begin with)

I think the CEO could have changed the order in which he said things when he fired her. He could have said that he understands she is not looking at this as a long-term job, so he's going to make some calls to try to find her something more to her liking. In the mean time, give her a month's severance pay and tell her she is no longer working for him.

Of course, the way he said it was more dramatic and made for "better TV", so that is why it was done how it was.

reply

Firing her for not having passion alone would be illegal.

Depending on the state, that may not be true.

reply

Did you know that intelligent or very gorgeous girls working at Hooters (or the like) signifies that the economy isn't doing so well? Jessica is just one of those examples. Obviously she was doing what she had to to get by as a lot of people have to (as she said).

On the other hand, if you are told that you are going to be on camera, for something related to your workplace, I don't care what show that you are being told is being filmed there is a pretty good chance that it is UB. This show has been on for long enough and never has their been a show where people compete for a minimum wage job (although it would be relevant). You suck up your hate and you play it like a fiddle.

reply

There* been a show...

Gah! That's going to bother me now. Lol

reply

I was completely appalled! Seriously, the only reason this slimeball CEO brought his piece of crap restaurant on this show is to drum up publicity. Obviously, no one gives a crap about his restaurants, that's why they seem to always be empty.

Well, I think his appearance of this show will actually act as a deterrent. It shows his a complete a-hole, and I wouldn't want anything to do with his crappy restaurant. That waitress did not deserve that. It's a *beep* job at a *beep* restaurant. How could you blame someone for wanting something better? Obviously, he sees his employees as objects, not people.

~I would agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong~

Yup. This was just another stunt to get people into his sh!tty restaurant, I mean, breasturant.

Let's hope it backfires and the place closes up and blows away in a few months. Douchebag.

Here is a 30% raise boosting your pay to $7.50 an hour. Don't forget as manager of the kitchen you must work 80 hours a week cook and wash the dishes. Somebody give that man a decent wage.

reply

Ok, while I agree the owner was a total asshat, I think the REAL reason that he fired that girl was because she over-served that customer, by a LOT! I have my liquor license to serve/sell alcohol in my state, and to be frank, there is a LOT of personal/business liability in doing that. Having a server that will over-serve a customer can lead to very serious consequences, losing a business the right to serve alcohol at all, STEEP fines, and even being sued. Now do I think the boss wasn't an *beep* misogynistic creep? Hell no! What a loser! But I think he purposely glossed over the over-serving in order to do it, which makes him look like even more of a dirty pig (if that's possible).

reply

I agree. And also, people can criticize the restaurant and owner all they want, but at the end of the day she agreed to take a job that required wearing a bikini and cowboy boots but she refused to wear a bikini and cowboy boots. If you get a job at Applebee's and refuse to wear their polo shirts, you won't last long. Not to mention she sat there and complained about not being able to get a job anywhere, and when he asked if she'd take a sales position or something less degrading with the company, she said no way. Also, when they went in for the final interview, she blatantly lied about being "in control" of the situation with the drunk guy when the video shows that he asked her several times if the guy had enough and she kept saying he was fine without any concern. Firing her on the spot might have been drastic, but she didn't exactly show enough initiative to indicate that she deserved retraining or a second chance. People on here seem to forget that even in light of all of that, he still offered to circulate her resume and help her get a better job somewhere else.

reply

Did her job description include dressing scantily in front of television cameras?

The guy was a douche-bag.

reply

No one is forced to be on the show. If she didn't want to appear on television in a bikini, she could have said no to being on the documentary (the cover for the show) and they would have found someone else. I highly doubt if you have no problem parading around infront of people in bikinis all day long in the restaurant, being on tv would be much different.
