What's with Alicias HAIR HELMET?!?

She was having some seriously bad hair days on season 7! It's so obvious that she's wearing a wig.

reply

Remember her in the show ER? She has really curly full hair... She wears a wig for the entire show... Its sometimes WAYYYY OFF and totally noticeable and annoying to watch after you notice it. I told my husband that little tidbit and now all He can do is point it out. Lol

reply

Oh, I'm SO relieved to see someone already started a tread about Alicia's God-awful hair! I just started Season 3 and her hair is just so awful!! I didn't think it was all that bad the first season, but got progressively worse as the seasons progressed.

reply

I read somewhere that she didn't want her real hair damaged with all the styling and products that is required during filming so she requested to wear a wig. Diva!?!

reply

Hm...I just read that she preferred to spend the two hours, that styling her hair would require, with her family, so she chose to wear wigs, which only take 10 minutes to put on. Can't say I blame her, not when she's already spending 14 hours a day on set. But still, I hated the wigs.

You might be even more relieved to know that over the years, when this show was on, there were dozens of threads about Alicia's bad hair/wig here on this IMDb board, especially during seasons 3 and 6&7. I remember that one time - maybe one or two years ago - Redart27 bumped all the hair/wigs threads on one day and I think there were 11 different threads about it within a time span of 5 months. All those older threads are deleted now, but it surely was a very hairy question here on this board to discuss. 

If it's of any interest to you, there was actually a question about Alicia's/Julianna's best wig in the show as part of the third TGW fandom survey - here:

http://tgwfandomsurvey.tumblr.com/post/136206566710/question-in-which-season-does-alicia-wear-the

If you read the notes, you'll learn that many people hated season 3 hair as much as you do. So, you're not alone.  On the other hand, it will get better for two seasons until it rapidly gets worse again ...

Best wishes,

janar

Aww, bummer! I'm sad I missed all that! It sounds highly entertaining!

I'll admit I'm only now watching it because of Jeffrey Dean Morgan's role in the show, but only watching the episodes with him would be pointless. I do really like the show so far, and although I like Alicia all right (despite her awful hair), Kalinda and Eli are my favorite characters.

Thank you for the link to the survey (and the notes!) - that's hilarious!! I'm really looking forward to seeing the badness, lol!

Btw, I love your signature! Ellen Page is from my province! 💜

Yes, it was. Last February, there was someone who started a thread with the title "Enough threads about the wig", and one of the replies was: "The guy that doesn't like reading about the wig starts a wig thread."  And, of course, the next day we had 3 more new threads about Alicia's wig on this board ...

That's interesting, because I actually couldn't bring myself to watch the last season 7 until this day, and that's when Jeffrey Dean Morgan was introduced in the show! I have nothing against him, I was just so disappointed with season 6. I won't say anything else; I hope for you you'll enjoy the show and especially JDM in season 7! 

My favourite character is/was Kalinda from the beginning, but what made this show for me in the early seasons was the ensemble of all the cast members and guest stars. I loved it very much, until ...

Wow, that's such a nice place on earth you live on, you're lucky! If I had the money/opportunity/health, I would love to travel to this region and enjoy everything, especially the ocean. I'm kinda jealous, hihi.

I like Ellen Page very much as an actress, but even more as a human being after her speech at HRCF. It was so courageous and inspriring, and ever since that's my signature here on IMDb. 

HA!!! I'm REALLY sorry is missed that!! The irony of it! I love this place when people can have fun...but then the trolls intervene...so I disappear for awhile.

I've loved JDM since P.S. I Love You...and then, of course, his role in Grey's Anatomy only made me love him more, and now his role in The Walking Dead... 😍

I love, love, LOVE little bits of trivia and such things...

Thank you! I feel very lucky to be able to live here - the beach after a storm is my favorite place to be...it's so tranquil, it's eradicates all my stress. I do hope you are able to see it someday.

Yeah, the trolls can be annoying here on IMDb, but with some time I learned to ignore them.

I actually remember the movie P.S. I Love You (2007) - JDM was in it?  Okay, I forgot that, but I remember the movie; not bad. And while I certainly remember Denny Duquette, I'm not very interested in The Walking Dead (2010) - not my genre at all. But I heard/read about Negan - isn't he some kind of psycho killer with a bat? You don't really "love" him in this role, do you? 

Oh yes, any beach after a storm is beautiful, fresh air, new beginnings. What I like most about the ocean is the sound of the waves, or even the ripples; that's what calms me down. I really hope to see your region some time in my life.

By the way, since you're living there: How far away from you is Cape Cod, Massachusetts? When German painter George Grosz emigrated to the US in the late 30's he spent his summers on the beach of Cape Cod and draw the landscape. Well, if he wasn't drunk or painted (doodled) nudes all day long, that is. I always wanted to see this landscape, too - is it far away from Nova Scotia? Can you easily travel around the coast from Canada to the US?

He was! He was Hilary Swank's new love interest in Ireland! You even got a brief glimpse of his tush! Hahaha! You should watch it again. Shows/movies/books like The Walking Dead aren't usually my thing, in fact, I can't stand that stuff, however, a good friend tried to convince me to watch it, but I still waffled...until I found out JDM was gonna be in it! I binge-watched it all on Netflix over the summer, so I'd be caught up before the new season started. Yes, he is, and his weapon of choice (he calls it 'Lucille') is a barbed wire-wrapped baseball bat. Oh yes, I really do LOVE him as Negan - he's phenomenal!!

It's the big waves that I love after (or even during) a storm - they crash so loud!

Cape Cod is 12 hours or so by car - it's 1200km. I love art and paintings - I will have to look up George Grosz. Thanks! OH - if you like painters/paintings, you may have heard of Maud Lewis...but if you haven't, you should look her up...I love her work!! There IS a ferry that travels from Yarmouth to Portland, Maine, but it only runs in the summer, and I'd rather drive, anyway - the landscape is so pretty.

thsweetestbitch,

I'm really sorry - I completely forgot to reply to your kind post! Thanks so much for your infos about Cape Cod, that's so nice of you! 

Now I remember: A few years ago, I watched every movie with Hilary Swank that I could catch somehow, and I must've watched this one back then. And as I read Ireland, I remembered this Irish dude she was falling for - and that was indeed JDM. Damn, my memory isn't really that good anymore ... 

Oh no, I still pass. It's not my kind of taste, and my list of movies and shows I eagerly want to watch or catch up is endless. Have fun!

What a pity Kalinda('s bat) never met Jason('s Lucille)!  No, really, they would've made such a great team ...

This sounds so lovely, but it's a looooong trip. Maybe a trip for a few days or weeks along the coast - that would be so wonderful. Maybe one day? 

I'm not really into art, to be honest; but I'll look up Maud Lewis, thanks for the tip!

My connection to George Grosz, and especially his American paintings depicting the landscape of Cape Cod, is more a personal thing for me. During my time at university, I read thousands of letters by emigrants who fled from the nazis to all parts of the world as part of my studies. Grosz's letters are remarkable in many ways; he was a famous painter and political cartoonist in the Weimar Republic of the 1920's and is still well known today for this particular work and time span. But when he came to America, for many reasons, he had to change his style of painting; less political, less radical, more accomodated to the "art market" of the actual US of A, his new home, which was so completely different from his naive dreams of when he was a little boy.

The remarkable thing for me was that I read all these influences and his confusion and his enthusiasm and his anger and his loneliness and his bitterness in his letters from this time, and when he was in good terms with himself (or just drunk ...), he started to doodle around his words, uncontrollably, and all kinds of (rather obscene) stuff. Sometimes, those letters are more artwork than scripture, and sometimes, he was drawing landscapes and going on about how beautiful it was on the beach at Cape Cod on that particular day and how much it reminded him of the places he went on summer vacations at the baltic sea when he was a kid.

I think I will always remember those descriptions and drawings because I also spent my childhood summers on these beaches in the north of Germany when I was a kid almost half a century later. And I think that's the reason I would love to see those beaches at Cape Cod one time in my life in the future. Maybe, one day ...

Sorry about so many words; I got carried away. Thanks again for your infos! 

janar
