Why do they say 'phoned' instead of 'called'???? It's driving me crazy! It must be a colloquialism from one of the writers?! Anyone know?? _ My entire existence was constructed by a sociopath in a sweater vest, what do you suggest I do?
If you'd taken a few minutes to glance at the other threads in this list, you would have noticed that this question has already been asked DOZENS of times, most recently less than a week ago. The answer is always the same: Writer/creator Robert King said that's just how he says it. (In Canada, it's also the more normal way to say it.)
"Phoned" is also more precise than the vague "called", which could mean as you pass by their office.
And seriously, it "drives you crazy" when people merely say things differently to the way you do?? What an absurd overreaction..... Lots of people say things different ways. That's just the way it is. You'll just have to do your best to survive it....
Are you kidding me? Your overreaction to my question is absurd. Maybe you should take some anger management classes. I didn't read through every post because I'm only on season two and I obviously don't want to read spoilers....you will just have to do your best to survive people asking the same question more than once on a public forum. Given that this IMDB page is not directed at you personally, you might want to take a step back and calm down. _ My entire existence was constructed by a sociopath in a sweater vest, what do you suggest I do?
Not wanting to read spoilers is understandable, but people are supposed to flag them in the subject line, so you can skip them. Or they put something like this, in the message: (example of a spoiler)
The same question you asked was just a couple of lines below yours in the list. Didn't you think that might have the answer to your question?
It's still ridiculous to let it "drive you crazy" that someone merely says something differently. We don't all talk the same way. Get a grip.
I will reiterate, I didn't read any other posts. For the reason I stated. Apparently you're quite literal. No I have not been committed to a psych ward for 'going crazy'. It's a figure of speech. Clearly If it has been asked so many times to cause you to be all up in arms over my asking, then it is a big enough deviation from the norm that is evident by the frequency it is questioned.
Indeed. Thanks.
