We never got a glimpse into David Lee's personal life

I for one have no idea if he was married single gay or straight or had any children. Did they ever show any of his backstory his past his friends is life outside of Lockhart Gardner? Well, he did have a niece who got a job with the firm, I do recall that. I also want to know if he was really racist or not and whether there was any reason why he was always so nasty to people.

He's single I believe and does not have children.

I feel like David Lee was supposed to be a pure antagonist. The only soft side we ever saw of him was how he reacted to Will's death. Even then, he wasn't particularly nice to those two female staffers when he told them to get out.

If we piece together all of seven years, I guarantee you that he's a very lonely and angry man. a single one at that.

Definitely single -- he says (S4, to Alicia's mother, when he's advising her on money) that he's too selfish to get married. I'm binge-watching and up to S5 E4, no info -- apart from the niece, whom he loves (he makes a point of saying that to Eli, who was giving the niece a hard time), and about being single -- no other info about his life.

He stated he is a conservative at Diane Lockhart's astonishment.
I understand he is jewish, saying he did not want to get politically involved with people close to an anti - Israel organization.
His niece was hired at Lockhart & Gardner.

In the later seasons there were jokes made between other employees that he was gay. When their emails were hacked it was revealed that Julius Cain had referred to him as a 'fruitcake'. I believe that's the first time this subject came up but it wasn't the last.

When Cary was convincing Alicia to come start their own firm, he mentions that old man Howard pulls in $4 million a year and doesn't do jack. Imagine what David pulls in when he's supposed to the most profitable guy in the firm. I wouldn't feel too bad for him. He probably crushes.

More on the niece: he once told Alicia that there's few things in life he cares about. He likes money, but he loves his niece.
