I love the exchange in this episode between Spartacus and Crixus where Crixus says in different circumstances they would be brothers. To me it sums up the emotions underlying the entire story, that deep down, we are all brothers and sisters (at least those of us that don't set ourselves up as better than others). A touching moment. e
The scene ended with Spartacus and Crixus understanding that one of them would die, with the other carrying on the life purpose of both. I wonder if this had meaning for Manu Bennett after Andy Whitfield's death.
I thought of another good one: the bit when Spartacus and Crassus first encounter each other.
Crassus: (calls out his name) "Spartacus!"
Spartacus turns around and the two leaders see other for the first time. They both give each other a glance of "Ah, so you're the man I wish to see fall from this earth".
The final battle between Spartacus and Crassus. Since I knew they never reportedly met on the battlefield in real life; this was a wonderful surprise. Also unlike other battles, where you know the hero will prevail; it was almost certain Spartacus would die, racking up the suspense factor.
The rousing speech given by Spartacus in the series finale is right up there also.
Yeah that whole final battle between the Romans and Rebels was fantastic.
I also liked the bit when Spartacus is charging up the hill towards Crassus. He looked like a demon possessed him!
I always wondered about the screeching eagle heard preceding the charge. Probably just a cool sound effect.
shareJust to expand on that: When Crassus does his special move with the sword (what he did to kill the gladiator that trained him) to Spartacus and the camera pans up to make you wonder if he actually pulled it off......so much suspense. Then the look in Spartacus's face of like "impressive and a worthy adversary" and Crassus is all "wow, he truly is the greatest gladiator of all time"

- Mutilation of one of the rebels (can't remember the name). His tongue was cut off and so on

- Could not help but laugh when Laeta screamed out "*beep*!" when she failed to pitch her tent.
Favourite fights
- Gannicus/Oenomaus versus Crixus/Agron. Would really have preferred if Spartacus was in the fight instead of Agron though. That woulda been more interesting. Agron is the weakest imo.
- Gannicus blindfold fight
- Spartacus versus Crassus
There are so many, but if I have to choose a favorite...Gannicus' blindfold fight.

The public toilet scene in Capua with Batiatus and Solonius. Just having a conversation there on the toilet in front of everybody on the street, use the community brush then go about your business.
Ok, well maybe that's not my favorite, but it cracks me up.
Solonius was one of the more underrated characters on the show, IMO. I loved his rivalry with Batiatus!

shareNever thought he phoned it in, just thought whitfield was better for the role. Liam was alright but Im not a big fan or recasting in general anyways. They really didnt really have a choice in this instance however.
shareYeah, it's true they didn't have a choice, but Whitfield gave Liam McIntyre his blessing and Liam did Whitfield proud, I feel. He managed to give the character his own interpretation rather than simply copy Whitfield.

True. Andy first gave the showrunners his blessing, but I heard in a video interview that he did discuss the role personally with Liam through emails.
I don't believe they met in person.
Liam is not what made season 2 good though, my favorite parts of season 2 was all the roman drama and story writing

I think it was in the first episode of the third season and let me know that even with the cast change and odd order in the seasons the show was going to stay good.
