See this film with the right expectations, it's not a James Bond movie!

This is a film about an extremely paranoid and depressed man who, after living a fast-paced and dangerous life, is looking to connect with people; we can see he desperately wants a relationship and stability but he knows that the nature of his business makes that unrealistic. Those he loves end up doomed, which is why he seems so conflicted in many of the scenes involving women. I think the scene with the priest regarding "hell on earth" was an obvious nod in saying how Clooneys character is living in a kind of purgatory.

If you view this movie expecting another James Bond film you're going to be sorely disappointed
