I cannot forget this movie - SPOILER

I watch many, many movies, and this is one film I have not been able to get out of my mind. I saw it when it first came out in 2010. I liked it a lot, but I did not love it, although I thought Clooney was amazing. However, I have never been able to get the characters and the story out of my head. I just re-watched the movie now, and it is even better the second time around. I think this movie is vastly under-rated. It makes me angry that this film was marketed so poorly, because I think many people went in expecting a wild action movie and were then disappointed by the quiet character study this movie actually was.

And by the way, I REFUSE to believe he dies in the end. Clara drives him to the hospital, he gets fixed up, and they live happily ever after. :-)

Absolutely agreed, Jojo. It gets under your skin. I remember after the first time I watched it I thought it was a good movie. But then I suddenly found myself thinking about it quite often for the next week. I had to rewatch it and then I loved it.

That's a sign of a great movie!

Also had the same feeling with Lost in Translation and Drive.

Why'd they have to end it like that? It was totally predictable. Maybe the book ends that way, but for the movie they should have gone the other way for a change. This story has been told a dozen or more times in other films. Shame really.

Yeah, the ending was a real bummer, I hated that he died at the end, great ending though. I had a feeling there'd be no happy ending to this film though. He could've lived happily ever after with Clara though but the shocking ending really makes the film IMHO.

In what way was it predictable? Where in the movie did you pick the ending? I didn't think he was going to make it out alive, but I didn't predict it ending exactly the way it did.

Maybe the book ends that way, but for the movie they should have gone the other way for a change.
What's the other way? The initial Blade Runner (and a ton of other movies)ending of "living happily ever after" that got panned by a vast majority?

This story has been told a dozen or more times in other films. Shame really.
Can you give me list, because I'd really like to compare the other 12. Just to see who tells the story better. They'd want to be good, because I think they did a great job in the telling of this tale.

He didn't necessarily die in the film. And he didn't die in the book -- he leaves the town with Clara, and is later talking philosophically about his life experiences.

I think this is a gem of a movie too.

For the record I gave it 9/10.
