More quiet movies with Italian/mediterranean backdrops?

I really loved the quiet Italian backdrop in this movie, does anyone have any reccomendations for movies with a similar Italian or mediterranean setting? Doesn't have to be English, I also really loved La Meglio Gioventu for example

You mean the film about the rounding-up of Italian-Jews by Nazis?

Mediterranean backdrop - Check. Quiet - Not so much.

Contempt, 2nd half takes place on the Amalfie coast. A near perfect film.

I found this movie quite similar to Le conseguenze dell'amore (2004) a.k.a. The Consequences Of Love, starring Toni Servillo.

The Girl by the Lake (2007) fits your criteria exactly, more so I'd argue than some of the other ones mentioned on this thread.

Very quiet, very interesting, very Italian and lots of beautiful mountain scenery.

For a more American orientated film, but still fitting your requirements IMO try Under the Tuscan Sun (2003).

I watched this movie, "Secret Journey" (2006) or its Italian title name of Viaggio segreto years ago and enjoyed it quite thoroughly. Watch it, it reminds me of this movie a little bit.
