I guess Im stupid not to have know this, but I dont see any mention of it here. Ive been waiting months to see this movie. I finally saw it listed on Amazon and ordered it. But I now find that the movie I rcvd is Region-2 PAL, playable only in Europe, so have to send it back. I wonder why the movie isnt available in the US. Does anyone have any info on whether/when it might be available in the US?
I was wondering the same thing. A photo of me throwing a football with my shirt off was used in this movie in a picture frame that Kathy Bates gives Kate Hudson as a gift and Kate tells everyone I'm her boyfriend. They started filming this 3 years ago. I've been waiting and waiting.

I believe early May 2012 for the US.
And it's taken that long because it's one of the worst films ever made - seriously. It spends most of it running time trying to convince the audience that colon cancer isn't that big a deal ... as long as you have a great apartment, an awesome group of stereotypical 'movie' BFF's, a cute dog, & a smoking hot Jewish Mexican doctor.
It's so bad it actually makes "Beaches" pretty watchable. And to think this was directed by the same person who did Kevin Bacon's unbelievable good "The Woodsman".
Oh, shush, this is a great movie and I usually HATE romantic comedies with a passion! I saw it last year, here in Denmark the DVD came out mid November, weird that it got a Danish release before a US release.
Very odd for an American movie to get released in Europe over a year before US release. It came out in theatres in the UK on 4 February 2011 and was released to DVD and Blu-Ray in UK on 5 September. I see the States dont get a theatre release until 4 May 2012 and DVD/Blu-Ray 12 June-that kind of thing sometimes happened in the 80s being so far appar but rare for now. Also strange how Amazon have a 5 DISC DVD of it listed as well as 1 disc DVD, 1 disc Blu-Ray and 2 disc Blu-Ray all due for release in States on 12 June. Cant think what an earth would be on a 5 disc DVD!
I loved it, there were no frills about death, it was dealt with very well I thought. I really did enjoy it, and liked the interaction with Kate Hudson and Kathy bates, very good, well worth a watch.
The studio that made it knew they had a giant turkey on their hands and back-shelved its release in the US. I noticed they rushed immediately to rentals and DVD sales! Sure sign they knew the film was a dud and probably wouldn't make that much money in theatrical release! I don't think it did Kate Hudson's career any favors and distributors knew it!
