6.4?
shareYes, I agree. I think this ensemble cast of actors performed brilliantly.
They had me cheering for the protagonist, Charley--he had flaws, but then a flawed protagonist is a perfect protagonist, in a manner of speaking.
They had me hating the vampire, Jerry, while still admiring his genius in setting up his lair and carrying out his devious plan.
They had me wanting to protect the two female leads, Amy and Jane.
And Peter Vincent had me laughing out loud!
The movie provided me with drama, romance, action, horror, and comic relief. I found the film very entertaining on so many levels.
And I love the DVD blooper reel! Blooper reels lend some degree of credibility to my signature line here on IMDb. I know the actors work hard, but geez, I can think of no better "job" on the planet. I admire the actors in this film and I envy the incredible lives they must lead in their profession--no other like it!
I gave Fright Night 10/10.
Actors do not have a job...they have a blast!
Absolutely agree
share6.4 seems quite generous to me. I gave it a 5. The original a 7. Both have similar issues, but the 2011 version lacks patience with the material and is too action orientated. It also sidelines Farrell a bit in the third act, which was a mistake considering that he's quite good here. Although David Tennant's Peter Vincent is completely uninteresting and brought little to the film, unlike Roddy MacDowell in the original. His Peter Vincent meant something. Tennant is playing a sideshow character.
