What ruined this movie for me..

I actually liked this movie, despite all the hate out there for it (I haven't seen the original though, so that is probably a factor). But what ruined it for me was this:

After Amy threw the holy water (I'm guessing that's what it was) in Jerry's face, he was hunkered down in horrible pain, and she just left to find Charlie to leave. WTF!?!??! Why not when he was on his knees in horrendous pain, get a stake or something (hell, there was PLENTY there!) and stab him in the heart?!?!! After that happened I lost all respect for the characters. It's like they don't think!

Stupidity like that annoys me too but...it's a horror movie, they're not supposed to think. lol :D

I coud make a terribly sexist comment and say 'she's just a girl - under stress'

Or by simply assuming Amy realizes that even though Jerry is wounded and in pain, he's still very dangerous and likely won't hesitate to kill her if he can get his hands on her.

Personally, in that situation, I'd probably at least try to stake the SOB, figuring that if I don't deal with him now while I at least have a chance, I'll have to deal with him later, when I no longer have an advantage. But if Amy had done that, the movie would have been over at that point. <G>

I do not understand how all these people can go missing and no one cares. Also the house was burned and no one from the neighborhood seemed to be present.

reply

The house wasn't burning for very long before they shot out of the garage and down the street. Not much time for anyone at that time of night to take notice. When Charlie returns to fight Jerry it looks like the fire must have been put out, the house is burned but still standing... so someone called the Fire Department.

As for the disappearances not being noticed... like they said, Vegas is a transient town, people drift in and out all the time. I live there (here) and I know it to be true. Real connections are hard to make and I've known a number of folks... at work, at school, etc. who just moved away without notice. Weird but true.
Not to say there's no community at all... but you have to seek it out... and a lot of folks just don't plan to be here that long... and even if they've been here for years they'll still describe themselves as being from wherever they lived before, and talk about where they're gonna go. Vegas is just a stopover.

You're right. It is terribly sexist to imply that she made the choice she did because she was a WOMAN under stress and not just UNDER STRESS.

May I also remind you that she saved Anton Yelchin's character's ass by coming in with a f---ing morning star and knocking the hell out of McLovin. She ALSO had to CONVINCE Anton to kill McLovin even though he was totally evil and gone at that point and OH also trying to MURDER THEM. And Anton hesitated because of his RELATIONSHIP with the guy. If you want to talk about traditionally 'feminine' motivations, why don't you take a look at that subplot.

So yeah, don't pull that weak "she's a girl and that's why she mad that one mistake" bulls--t.

She was probably the least idiotic of the characters in this movie and bi--h got stuff DONE.

Sure sounds better than my comment "what ruined this movie for me were the untalented jew actors". 😈

RIGHT????

I thought u were gonna say that it ruined when she says ' Vampires' after she pours the holy water... Such a horrendous movie with terrible acting and cliche crap..

reply

That was a cool touch, a nice play with Jerry who ridiculed her for shooting him with silver. Best part of the movie really.

This. I loved that bit, great scene in the film, loved how she caught Jerry offguard like that.

Honestly my favorite scene

reply

The hipster dialogue and over use of CGI is what ruined it for me...

reply

Why would you lose respect for the characters (emphasis on the plural here) when it was only Amy who committed the unforgivable sin? Charley, for example, was relentless in taking down Jerry, to the point of setting himself on fire to do so! And even Peter Vincent finally manned up.

Actors do not have a job...they have a blast!

They explained it in the movie. When a vampire gets stressed you don't want to be near him. Remember that he trashes around and has huge nails. He can ignore the pain for 1 second and kill you very easily. And you need to hit him directly in the heart. As the showman said: kill him while he is relaxed or sleeping.
